I have recently purchased a PS90. As some of you know the standard optic on the rifle sucks. They should of made the option to get it with out it. But hey whatever right. I am looking for suggestion on a optic that you would believe that would blend in well.

Myself I have been looking at the Aimpoint Comp M3 and the Eotech 553. Can someone give me a break down of the features and benefits between the two. Also any other suggestions for optics that you might have.

Thank you in advance.
P.S. If it matters any I am sbr'ing my PS90

I got the black reticle tritium powered factory FN PS90 sight, MC-10-80 . Works better than the stock white reticle PS90 sight.
It has a black "donut of death" reticle in day and in darkness(even complete darkness) the tritium powered sight kicks in and you see a bright red open "T" reticle. Works wonders and fits the stock mounts too (no need to buy a rail just to put a new sight on it). FN should have made this the stock sight instead of the white one....

So, its something U can buy from FN seperately? How much is it?

Yeah, separately and will run your about $600.
here is the full detail on it: http://www.ringsights.com/Products/sights/SightsDesc/MC-10-80.htm

Wow, that is expensive. I think if I wanted to spend that much money, I'd buy an EOtech and mount it on top for 1/2 the cost.

I'm trying to save up to buy a PS90. Then I'll take it from there.

Eotech 512 or 552 if you're going to be using NV gear w/it. Both use AA batteries (even rechargeables) so finding batteries isn't a problem. W/fresh lithium AA's the 512/552 will go 1,100 hrs on a brightness setting 12 (out of 20). I use 512's on both my PS90's...

How does the 552 compare with the new 553 or with the Comp M3?

AFAIK the only significant difference between the 552 & 553 is battery type and hence battery life. The 552 w/AA lithiums has appx 2x the battery life of the 553 w/CR123s. As far as comparing them w/the Comp M3, what sort of comparison are you looking for?

The Aimpoint has better barrery life by far and is more rugged. The Eotech has a faster rectical that is more precise. I prefer the Eotech. But on your gun you may consider getting a Doctor or JP dot sight. their very compact and would match the lines of your pop gun better.

Sorry it took so long to respond.

I am looking at shooting no more than a hundred yards, but most shooting will be done a max of 15yds so I am looking for something fast transitioning.

Uh, this is wrong. The 512/552 and 553 all have about the same battery life.

So what are the differences then, I have been looking at the 553 and might be interested in purchasing one?

The 553 was designed for SOCOM. This is the first EOTech from the groung up for the Military. It features the following:

CR123A batteries
Tethered battery Cap
Built in riser

I got to shoot two PS90s this weekend - and, I plan on having my own by the end of the month. I also got to look thru an Eotech this weekend. I went and ordered the N battery EOTECH for my PS90, and I should have it by Fri.

Since my last posting on this thread I went to a P90 internal laser and Eotech 512/M3-LED setup:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v465/Tomac/ResizeofCompletedPS90001-1.jpg
and then replaced the Eotech w/the Trijicon Tripower because I didn't want my optic to be 100% dependent upon batteries:

Well, thats kewl. It was all I could do to afford the Eotech, however.

Are U gonna short barrel it? I am debating if that is worth it. I'd have to sell my HK USPc to afford it.

Thx! Nope, not gonna SBR it. Thought about for some time but I don't want to void the warranty and I'll take the extra oomph the longer bbl gives the bullet.

Yes, I finally got mine. I thought about short barrelling it, and even got the ATf forms. But I have decided to leave it as is. Shouldered w/ the long barrel, it is still shorter than if I hold a pistol out stretched in my hands to shoot.

Here is mine:

Yes, I prefer the rifle over the pistol myself. The ammo is too high to justify having the pistol. But, the rifle is ubercool :p

I am one of the handful of people that actually like the ringsight that comes on the PS90. It does have some disadvantages, but it has one great advantage, it requires no batteries!

It also keeps the line of sight closer to the bore than a lot of the alternatives. I appreciate this.

May be some day I will change it out for some thing else. Right now I am just enjoying shooting it. The FN sling is great, and my next acquisition will probably be a brass catcher.

ShipWreck

Well, I ordered this sling:

http://www.uertslings.com/PS90_P90_PSX_SLING.html

I'm waiting for it to arrive.

And, I like my EOtech. I am right handed, but left eye dominate. That's why I've never really gotten into rifles before. But, I'm able to use my left eye now with the Eotech because it sits a little higher.

And, from others who use the EOtech, the hight of the sight isn't really making that big of a difference.

FN Factory PS90 "Black USSS" sight

And of course they both look the same in the dark with the tritium reticle.

Thats much better - but not worth $600 that they charge for the black reticle.

Tomac, Shipwreck what is the difference between you rifles? I notice what seems to be different "rear ends" on you rifles.

No, they are the same. Just different colors.

he also has a different strap than I do. His goes thru the whole in the receiver. Mine does not. I chose mine so the center of gravity would be different.

Also, he has a magazine clamp on his - meaning he has 2 magazines clamped together. The second 1 is upside down along the back of the receiver. He uses it to rest his cheek on it, since the Eotech sits kinda high.

I am left eye dominate, and right handed. So, the height of the EOtech is great for me. I can finally shoot right handed and use my left eye. So, I don't wanna put a 2nd mag on the back of my gun.

I use the ASP sling which allows me to attach the PS90 to either the D-ring on my LBV or a chest loop w/o changing anything else. On the LBV the PS90 (shown here at its lowest hanging position) hangs low & out of the way so I can access the FN57 pistol. HTH...

Put a S&B Short Dot on it and be done. :)

J/K..... My PS 90 has a Reflex II on it and it works great FWIW and they retail for less than an EO.

I had a Reflex briefly the problem is the rectical washes out easily. I cannot recomend one for any serious use.
