My primary pistol is a Glock G22 40 cal. I have been looking into purchasing a light, thin, small conceal carry 40 cal with a little longer grip than the G23 that I previously have been carrying. I also wanted to go with a thinner profile .... Well,....It looks like I have come to the crossroads and I decided to go with either a Kahr KP 4044 (blackened slide with polymer frame and 6 plus 1 capacity), or the Kahr K 4044 (blackened slide and non polymer frame). The only difference that I can see between the two is that one has a polymer frame. The KP 4044 is 7.1 oz lighter than the K 4044.
My questions are ,.....Does anyone have any expeirience with these guns ? Is there much difference in handling and recoil between the two ? Most importantly,.....what price am I looking at paying here ? The suggested retail price on kahrarms.com was betwwen $728 and $772 for these guns. Is this about right ?......I am looking at using a Kahr 40 for conceal carry while keeping my Glock 22 primarily for home - vehicle defence and occational conceal carry. I have a spare G 22 that has never been fired that I am thinking about using as a trade in for a Kahr. Well,....what do y'all think ?

I had a K40 that I sold because the trigger was too different,(longer pull),than any of the other guns I carry. It was an older model that did not have the Elite trigger as all the newer ones do.About 8 months ago I picked up an older P40,(all P series have the Elite trigger,as well as all newer steel models). The felt recoil will be less in the K models due to more weight in the frame, but the negative is,they are heavier.Which, over a full days time, might or might not make a big difference to the person carrying it.Also,I see more people complaining about problems with the P series than the K series,so make sure you're prepared to deal with that issue if it comes up.I had to tweak my P40 a bit,but now it has Wolff extra power recoil and mag springs and a new mag catch, and it runs flawlessly...Just my opinion...

i just posted this 2 seconds ago....

i bought one used (p-40)... maybe the reason i have problems, but i'm going to get rid of it. i've had failures where the slide lock stays open... wich i repaired... i've replaced the same mag follower twice in a short amount of time, and now i'm getting FTF's and the primer isnt even dented. i tore it down to clean/inspect the firing pin assembly and in doing so i lost the spring that's part of the extractor assembly. i have been waiting for over 4 weeks now for a new spring, i have not gotten anyone to return my emails, and my card hasnt been billed, so i know it isnt in transit.

I have 2 K40s, 2 MK 40s, a T40 and a MK40. I really like how the blackened K40 feels in my hand, shoots, is extremely dependable, and the comfort when shooting. If I could have only one handgun, it would be that K40.
