I've posted a couple of times on here about FTFs with my Kimber TLE II. I've tried a number of different things, but I still have the FTFs. I have yet to take it to a gunsmith (I bought it used, so I don't think I'm eligible for warranty work), but that's my next step.
Last night I was taking a look at it again trying to figure it out and it occured to me that the slide stop looked to be sticking out a little far inside the slide. In fact, when I slowly inserted a magazine, I could see that the top round in the mag touched the slide stop and even rotated a bit as it rubbed against the slide stop.
Ok here are my questions:
1) Is this normal?
2) Could this be causing the FTFs?
3) Does it matter that the slide was locked back and the stop in the "up" position (i.e., would it not touch the round if it were in the "down" position as it would be when the slide cycles)? I didn't think I could safely duplicate this condition, so I didn't try.
Any thoughts? It would be great if I could fix the problem with a $30 drop-in part.
