I do not own a .40 Caliber pistol, I owned a glock 23 once but it did not appeal to me regards shootability. In simple terms I shot a Glock 19 better, and as well full size SIG220, 1911, or Glock 30 in .45ACP. I am not under any delusion that there are significant differences in pistol bullets or calibers. I am concerned however with the ability to shoot the launch platform effectively. That said I have enough 9's. The USPc is my first choice due to .45caliber and cocked/locked configuration. The P2000 in .40 just feels a lot better in my hand. There is just no place to rent these where I live, does anyone have experience with both regards shootability. Could you share your experience? My concerns are follow up shots how long to back on target, reliability, muzzle flash, accuracy difference if any. cheers. Jimmyp

maybe I should ask....how does the P2000 in .40 compare to the Glock 23 in recoil recovery for second shot and accuracy...!!

I sold my Kimber in .45 to get a .40 P2000. It is really nice and smooth shooting. The felt recoil is not all bad as the HK has a patented recoil system. I really enjoy it and highly recommend it.

I cannot comment on the .45s other than a few 1911s. But I really love my HK and wont give it up.

I own a USP fullsize 40 variant #1 and a G-23. I like the USP better cause it handles the Corbon 135grn I shoot a bit better on double tap shots & recovery shots.

I have both and have had a g23 before. The p2000 doesn't recoil nearly as much as the g23 did, at least as I percieve it. In my opinion, it shoots like a dream! The USP 45c is also a sweet shooter, I feel like it has a little bigger kick than the p2000, but not much. If I had to choose between one or the other based on shootability, I would go w/ the p2000. One thing I do like about my .45c over the p2000 is the LEM trigger, Imho, it is awesome. Good luck.

Don't you mean the other way around, the P2000 has the LEM trigger. Maybe I mis-understood you.

Either way I love the LEM trigger. IT is smooth and crisp.

Recoil is very minimal on the P2000 and P2000sk. I felt my old Glock 22 had more felt recoil.

The p2000 is traditional da/sa. The usp .45c was converted to the LEM trigger, just like I said.

My USP45 Compact is a tack driver. I can't imagine anything getting better than that!

I agree with the other posters here. I own the P2000 in .40 v3 and have also shot the G23. The felt recoil is noticeably more with the G23. Target reaquisition is easier with the HK. The balance of the P2000 in my hand feels better than the G23 as well. Sure I paid a little more for the HK, but was well worth it in my opinion. I'm ready now for the USPc .45!

I've had the G19/23/32 and USPc in 9/40/357/45. Prefer my P2000 in 40. YMMV.

That is because the gun is made for 9mm. As I recall the spring lb-age is the same on the 17 and 22.

I really wanted a USP compact and was wondering what I should do as well. I was trying to decide between P2000 in 9mm, Compact in .40 or Compact in .45. I finally decided on the USP compact .45; mainly because I love .45 and the gun can be cocked and locked. I like the feel of the P2000 but don't like the first pull having to be DA. I do like the feel of the compact and it has C&L. That is why I decided to go for it. My USPc .45 be in the mail in a few days! I can't wait to get it!

Coming from a glock/1911 background....if you're gonna buy a P2K, which I did, get the LEM trigger and do that trigger job on it. A P2K with a sub 5# trigger has a wonderful trigger pull.

What trigger job on the LEM are you speaking of?

go to the forums at hkpro.com and search for the trigger job there. it is really simple, replaces two springs that cost maybe 10 bux total, and drops the trigger to about 4.5#.

later,

Ronnie

BA ... do you have the LEM or V3? What is your overall impression of the P2000? I've been thinking about getting one in .40.
