View Full Version : Another stippling question.
I know how to stipple with a heating iron but how do they do it to make it look like this?

There are attachments that are like knife blades for wood/leather burners that would make lines like that. My .02 worth.

Is that a Bowie gun? Looks nice. The frame cut-outs and slide rounding look like Dave's work.

Above G19 was done by Macjoc, AKA Gary Wendell.

Isn't the stippling a bit inhyginious?
I mean in a combat situation where sweat, mud, water, or maybe even blood are interacting with the micro ridges.
I read a mercworx knives article wher ethey explain why they had their knife handles made smooth instead of serrations. Ok a knife isn't exactly a gun, but both thing is still a combat tool with long term use, and maintanance
The problem with smooth handled knives is that when they get covered with blood they are hard to hold on to, sometimes to the point of dangerous. I try to wipe my most of the blood off my hands before handling my gun, but I could see it being the same problem. A trip through the dishwasher will take care of any nasty critters growing in the serrations:supergrin:
I sometimes think a lot of knife designers never get bloody or dirty while using thier knives.
See ya,

Is this in a skinning situation?

Aw hell with that. I clean my Glock with dish soap sometimes. I wouldn't worry about sweat getting in and growing deadly organisms. It's not like I wipe my @$$ with my Glock's handle or rub it in open wounds.
