View Full Version : Fail To Fire
I have a glock 10 mm; when I pull straight back on the trigger it will FTF several times, although the primer has been dented. If I put that same bullet back in, it will fire. Now, if I put slight pressure from right to left while pulling the trigger, then it will normally fire. What's going on?, anyone have any ideas. The gun has only fired a few hundred rounds through it and I have thoroughly cleaned and lubricated in order to correct the problem but to date has had no effect.

I'm gonna guess at something being mis-aligned/bent or hanging involving your trigger bar and striker. Which would explain the sideways pressure giving a good strike. But I am probably way off base and reserve the right to stand corrected by the more experience folks here.
I personally wouldn't attempt to re-fire a round like that though. Just strikes me as asking for another problem to crop up, like bullet set-back increasing chamber pressures. But that also is just my opinion.
If you are victim to the 25 cent trigger job, you may have removed metal from either the trigger bar, firing pin tab, or both. The problem is in engagement and premature release of the firing pin. OR, it could be your primers being too hard or seated too high.
Reloaded or new ammo?
Which trigger bar number (you can see it by taking the slide off, you don't have to remove it)? The 4256-1 gives a significantly harder strike than the 4256 (just put one in my G21 and the dent is very visibly deeper), I think your gun uses the same trigger bar.
I do have the 4256 not the 4256-1, also, I am using Winchester primers, but have FTF with factory loads as well. I did clean all primer pockets and made sure the primers seated well, to no avail. When I flushed the firing pin channel I did notice metal flakes making their way out the firing pin hole. Anyone know how to remove the firing pin in order to get a better look at what is happening(warning-I'm not the best armorer that you can find)

Good video.
41 Mag, you don't have to be a gunsmith to work on a glock unless you're trying to do some kind of unusual modification to it. They're one of the easiest pistols I've ever run across to work on.
In your case I think I'd clean the firing pin channel thouroughly in case you have a shaving or something in it. Don't oil it, it doesn't need to be oiled. Make sure the spring looks OK while you have it apart (wouldn't expect any problem, but a spring could always be broken). If this doesn't solve the problem, try replacing the trigger bar and trigger (it's an assembly). It's only about a 15 dollar part including delivery. Even if it's your first time taking one apart it should take less than a half hour. I have a great deal more confidence in my G21 since I replaced mine.

:banana:With out a picture I'm guessing from your description that that you trigger bar is bent causing drag there by inhibiting the amount of force driving the firing pin (striker). Secondly your firing pin spacer sleeve may have a crack or burr causing friction and reducing the forward thrust. By twisting the slide you could be reducing the drag.
Thanks guys; I watched the video, witch was really great, exactly what I needed to see. Hopefully I can get in there and see how everything looks. Thanks for all the help
