View Full Version : My 1911Sc for a Sig 229 ?
Have been offered a trade, just wondering if its worth it. Its a new in box Sig 229 with 3 mags and night sights.
How many of you would do it ?
Not me:shocked:
Truthfully, I have been wanting a SIG P229 (bought a G19 instead). However, if someone asked me if I wanted to trade my 1911 (Springfield) for a P229, I would say NO. I would lose at least a hundred, or more, dollars. I'm not certain how much P229s are going for... Now, if someone had a SIG P220R SAO, I would say YES and give up my Springfield! I like the new SIG single-action-only P220:supergrin:
Don't do it! Unless you really want to get read of your S&W. I may be underestimating the price of a P229, or inflating the price of your 1911, but I think you'd lose money on the trade...

New without nightsights the Sig 229 are going for $730.00-$750.00 around here. Add about $90.00 for nightsights. Plus the third mag an extra $30.00 or so. 1911Sc's are going around $800.00 around here now. Some a little less. Some a little more. I will tell you I think the 1911Sc is the best value for an out of the box 1911 right now. But I also love my Sigs. I just bought a CPO 229R that has pretty much been on my hip sice I bought it. Moneywise it's a good deal. The thing is how bad do you want the Sig? And will you regret trading your 1911Sc? Totally your call. As I said money wise it's about a wash.

p.s.,
if you asked me which one I'd trust my life with more the Sig all the way. My Sc had a plunger tube shear off. Rendered the gun useless. Happened on quite a few of the early ones. Never had any of my Sigs not fire.

I would say "dude lay off the crack !"
FYI CDNN sells used excellent condition 229 for cheap. Around $450-500.

I've owned a Sig 229 along with 7 or 8 other Sigs (still have two 220's). I would not trade any of my current fourteen 1911's for any Sig. But then again none of my 1911 have an external extractor or GS activated FPB either.

I say you will hate the Sig trigger compared to your 1911 for sure!
I also dont think it will shoot as accurate as your 1911.
It is also not a 45!

Both are good guns but I don't care for Double action Autos of any flavor.
