View Full Version : Finally shot my 1911 today, i expected more...
recoil that is. Springfield stainless GI model. My makarov hurts more than this thing, i even shot it with some hornaday TAP +p rounds and it was nice and smooth. Not too much muzzle jump. Did 45 rounds of fmj and 20 hps with no FTFs or eject problems. That TAP stuff blows the **** out of a phonebook. Winchester hps did well too, but i noticed that slam into the feed ramp more than the TAP. Now i just need a closer spot to shoot this thing.
The recoil on a 1911 is very managable:thumbsup:

I've heard almost nothing but good on the SA GI models. Supposed to be reliable and from pretty good to excellent accuracy also. Simple may be good!
Dang! That's disappointing. Mine does not kick like an army mule either, much less knock me down when I shoot it.
The Springfield GIs are good pistols. And the .45 ACP is a pleasure to shoot in a fullsized 1911.

If you think that's nice, you should try a nice 1911 with a beavertail grip safety.
1911s are not that bad, but my G21 has to be the least recoiling .45 out there. That being said, the G21 could only wish for a trigger like the 1911. ;)
