Need a gunsmith reference W central FL for a 1911

Im good to go doing work on my glocks and simple part replacement and assembly on my 1911s but I need a good full service gunsmith in West Central FL (or within driving range)

The 1911 in question is a series 70 full size frame. The barrel is shot out the springs are shot shes well worn and beat down. I have one of STIs custom commander length slides on the way for a full frame. The slide is in the white with no machine work done ( no serations not cut for sights) Since im going that far Id also like the bottom end rebuilt adding a good solid CCW trigger , commander style hammer. dehorn the slide and frame. some low mount night sights and the while thing refinished with a good long wearing tough finish.

I really dont want to send the gun out to Wilson , clark or Les baer or anyplace like that. Id like to work with a smith to have the pistol I want not pick from a list of multi choice options and send in a check. Plus supporting local buisnesses is always good.

Where is West Central Florida?
I know of Gun Craft in Ruskin, south of Tampa. I have NOT had a gun worked on there, just shot on their range with the local IDPA club when visiting friends in the area.

Tampa to crystal river is round about west central FL (big bend) How far south of tampa? Do they have a machine shop on site and do slide cutting for sights , checkering , stimpling ect?

These folks were in Safety Harbor, but, I just found out they moved. Still they were known for excellent work.

I have not been in the shop. But Gun Craft is a full service gunsmith and ought to be able to handle your project. Kim Stroud is a member of the American Pistolsmith's Guild, if that matters. You could call them up, I guess.

Ruskin is maybe 15-20 miles south of Tampa just off I75.
Crystal River to Ruskin shows as 102 miles on my mapping program.

Yeah thats not that far from me im right in the middle of crystal river and tampa in Hernando beach. The shop is about 45 minutes from me. I talked to another shooter/light duty gunsmith (no machine shop) Who is also comming up with a few references for me in the area. I will be away from tomamrow afternoon (friday) untill sunday midday camping and diving up at ginnie springs. When i return I will call Kens references and the shop you refered me to. Im not price shopping I just want it dont right the 1st time especially since im going to easily drop a grand in parts alone into it by the time its done.

Robert Weidig in Palm coast is who I have used in the past. I am a good bit east of you, though. I talked to him just the other day about 1911, he has done the produce your own custom 1911 thing labeled under RAW power.
