why is Kahr having so many problems lately?
first they were the praise of the NYPD, now NYPD hates them......
i have both a k9 and an mk9....both good guns.....
but the issues seem to be with the plastic Kahrs.....
has there been a managment change there or something that caused all of this poor Q.C. in the last year or so?

i meant to say, "i have had....."
so, can anyone shed some light on the polymer Kahr issues?
was this just a bad run of guns with peening and poor barrel and slide issues? or is this systematic?
i have toyed with the idea of a PM9 for an ankle gun for some time now, but cant commit to it with all these issues that dont seem to be isolated to only a few guns......
It seems to me, just from spending time in the Kahr Club, that the older Kahrs seem to be fine. It's the more recently manufactured ones that are a bit more prone to having problems.
If I had to guess - and this is only a guess - I'd say Kahr got too popular too fast. They couldn't keep up with demand, so they started cutting corners to increase production.
People have posted here that the quality of workmanship on older pistols is noticeably better than on the newer ones. And the PM9, I believe their biggest seller, is the model that seems to have the most problems. That leads me to believe they're sacrificing quality for quantity.
If that's the case, hopefully they'll get over their growing pains soon and get back on track. Supposedly they've corrected the problem with PM9, so maybe they are working things out already. Only time will tell.
Just my opinion so take it for whatever it's worth.

its worth a lot.... youre more in the know about this than i.
the reason you give of cutting corners to increase productivity makes sense, as thats the main problem with any company....profit before integrity.....

Howdy Cowboywannabe:
My Kahr PM 9 (VA 59XX), purchased new June 05 has been 100% reliable (6500+ digested rounds) from the get go. Since my serial number was in Kahr's barrel recall range, I didn't fire it until I received the new barrel. Later I found out my newly purchased Kahr was manufactured in June 03 (not a typo) and had been collecting "dust" on some dealer's shelf for almost two years!
Had I known my Kahr was two years "old" prior to purchasing it, I would have requested a more recent manufactured model. I'm happy to say what I didn't know didn't hurt me because the only way I can get my Kahr to malfunction is to limp-wrist it and it takes an effort to get my "darn" PM to fail!!! Wastes too much ammo! I would purchase a newer manufactured PM 9 today because I know once the "bugs" have been worked out, it would be reliable.
Now if only Kahr would manufacture a PM .22 for practice, I would be a happy camper since I developed a "golfers" elbow (recoil)shooting my Kahr so much. I've had to lay off shooting for a couple of months while wearing a brace (www.allegromedical.com/band-it-therapeutic-forearm-band-191732.html).
