I have a g27 and I want to know if it is safe to drop in a 9mm conversion barrel. Glock customer service told me not to do it. Are they just trying to get me to buy another gun, or should it not be done? Also, if it can be done, does anybody have any reccomendations for which company has the better product?
Yes the G27 can use a 9MM conversion barrel as long as it is a three pin 3rd gen. Glock. There are several makes of conversion barrels that you can use. They are Federal Arms, Jarvis, and KKM. A lot of people like the KKM barrels. I myself use a Federal conversion barrel in a G35. Just remember to get 9MM mags to use also.
Why does it have to be a 3 pin gun? The 9mm has less recoil than the .40.
It does not have to be a three pin pistol.
A Glock G26 barrel is smaller diameter than a G27 barrel. Glock CS told you correctly if thinking of a Glock G26 barrel for replacement. 9mm aftermarket barrels for your G27 should function fine because they have a larger barrel diameter.
Of course it does not have to be a 3 pin gun. I was just curious as to his reasoning.

I discussed such a general conversion with the Glock personnel at the Shot show and they said no problem so long as it a "conversion" barrel. Read above note and you will understand why. I did this with my 40 cal G24 and can shoot the 357sig. I can convert shoot a round and convert back in less that a minute -- did it once to show a wheel gun guy and his interest sparked.
Great way to practice inexpensively! Lone Wolf Distributors has a variety of barrel brands as well as thier own. All the best.
