*sigh* I wish I could afford a second Arsenal. My Romy and a buddy's krink and Bulgy 74 kit are taking up all my spare time and money. I wish the Sa M-7 I bought came with an optics rail, but at the time I could have cared less. I got it at almost 1/2 the retail cost brand new about 3yrs ago, couldn't pass it up.
Atlantic Firearms--The Folder--
We got a confimation on the rifle being a side folder and probably selling for around $ 799 -$825 range for the unit with a scope rail .

Now thats an AK I may be interested in buying. I don't want to reload another caliber so a .223 option is nice.

My question is this...are those proprietary magazines?
I have no problem finding 5.45mm mags at gun shows, but wonder about the availability of those .223 mags.
WHile having an AK in a very common caliber is nice, if you can ONLY buy them from Arsenal, you'd better buy a BUNCH of them!

Anybody see another expensive, hard to find reliable mag situation coming?

Why is everybody so bonkers :dancingbanana: for an AK in .223? I guess the higher prices on 7.62x39 has really gotten to everyone.

They are expensive ($25-30 per mag) but with dozens of countries using the Bulgarian 5.56 AKs they shouldn't be hard to find. K-var always seems to have a steady supply of them.

Got a call from my FFL and told me my new 5.56 Arsenal 106FR will be arriving on Monday or Tuesday and get ready to come pick it up.
I will report back after I get it and give a range report. I can't wait!

While for many uses I agree with you, there are some advantages to the 5.56 round over the 7.62x39 round. Many ranges and shooting schools (including Thunder Ranch) require non-toxic rounds. They are almost impossible to find for the 7.62x39 Russian. Also, some people (like me) appreciate the AK-47 design, but would like ammo interchangability with AR-15's. In addition, the 5.56 offers reduced penetration in urban settings. And you're correct that ammo cost is no longer a factor, with the dramatic increase in the cost of 7.62x39 ammo. I don't think it's the answer to all the world's problems, but I do see some appeal.
