Hey fellas,
I was in the market for a revolver for the deer woods this year and was looking at .357s, but then I remembered how much I loved my old 1911 and how kickin ass the .45 cartridge was at stopping things like hogs and bears. So I've decided to purchase my next dedicated woods sidearm. I'm torn between getting a full size glock 21 or an HK full size .45. Both have near the same specs and dimensions, and I was leaning towards the HK (although more expensive- but I know I know, you get what you pay for, which I'm prepared to do), however, I cannot find a fullsize USP .45 LEM. Are they non-existant? I love my HK USP Compact LEM, so I wanted to stick with it, but can someone set me straight?
Good question. I don't recall seeing any, back when I was looking for one. It wasn't an exhaustive search, but I looked at a lot of sites, etc. Practically all of the USPf .45s I saw were Variant 1.
I had resigned myself to sending it back to HK for the conversion; until I spoke with an armorer there. They want $125, plus return shipping, to do the work; parts and labor included.
I then looked into attending an armorer school, buying the parts, and doing it myself. The department won't send me on their nickle, since I am no longer involved in firearms training. So, I could pay now, or pay later (for the conversion, that is).
The thought of dropping another $100+ on an already over-priced pistol just doesn't sit well with me. And anyway, what will a USPf .45 do for me, besides provide a couple more rounds on tap, that my USPc .45 won't?
If the HK 45 comes out with the LEM trigger, I'll probably get one. And if I run across a USPf .45 with a LEM, I might just buy it. But I'm not looking anymore...:wavey:
You can get a fullsize and have it converted to LEM by HK.

Yes - may be your only option - or a USP compact in 45.
The Maine State Police changed their USP .45 V2 to LEM.
Most Troopers I talked to love it.

Awesome, that's what I am going to do then. Hopefully someone will respond to my WTT ad on here, to absorb the cost I am planning on parting with my beloved Russian TT33, so we'll see what happens! Thanks again guys :)
of course they do.
Here's mine, although it's a Compact Tactical.

Last year, I changed 8 full size USP .45s to LEM for a PD, and 2 USP Compact .45s. Basically, all the SWAT guys wanted the LEM over the DAO. Bought 10 sets of LEM parts and they all changed over fine. I charged them $55 for each set of parts and $25 to change it over.
I also changed over a few other compacts for other cops to LEM.
My USP Compact was originally V1, then I changed it to LEM, 5-6lb version. My brother bought the gun off me and kept it in LEM.
I am debating changing my P2000, V3 over to LEM...
I still like the SA trigger better than the LEM, but that first DA shot, I don't like. Can't do cocked and locked on my P2000 like I did with the USP-C V1.
