View Full Version : G19 Frame Rail - EXTxxx

I've owned this one since August of 2002 (serial no. EXTxxx) and no issues at all despite being on the "frame upgrade" list for the rear guide rail breakage. I shoot it frequently but like most folks, not as much as I'd like to.
Honestly, should I bother to return it for the fix as the breakage rate is supposed to be low? Another post cites, "the breakage rate has been less than 0.0188%". That's 188/10,000. Anyone else with a 9mm "recall" that hasn't returned it?
I lean to NO for my decision. This is the only one of three 9mm's (G19, G19, G26) with this question.

ERTxxx, not EXT...that's another issue I was working with a friend and misread my notes.

I didn't want to have to worry about it so, I sent mine in. It's free.

LIke DLM said, I would send it in so I wouldn't have to worry about it later.
Make sure you get some free mags for your trouble. Also, I would send it in without the box or any mags. You may even get them to put on some night sights for free while they have it.

You can wait if and until it breaks.
Have you called Glock to see if your serial number was even affected?
Not all guns in the E serial number range need the frames replaced, only guns made on a certain machine.
I'd call Glock first to see if your gun is affected by the "Frame Upgrade" or not.
If it is, I'd have the upgrade done. It's free and it's not going to hurt anything to have Glock give you a new frame.

Thanks all. I haven't called Glock yet but my serial number (ERTxxx) is on "the list" in the Glock Talk Serial Number thread. I have another G19 (DYSxxx) and a G26 (EXTxxx) that aren't on "the list" that I use more often. Guess I should call Glock and I'll probably deal with it in 2007 when things slow down at work & home.
Honestly, I appreciate your feedback but I'm one of those that doesn't like getting a "1" added to my serial number on the new frame. I perceive it as something akin to a "scarlet letter"...er, "scarlet number" if you know what I mean.

That's funny. I looked at it in the opposite light. IF I ever want to sell the gun the buyer knows the gun was upgraded. He doesn't need to be concerened about whether the gun is affected.

I was going through the same thing, but it kinda bothered me so i called to send it in. Im just waiting for the replacement frame to come in (Glock USA had to order it from Glock Austria). So im waiting for them to contact me back and send it in. I would go ahead and send it in.

The local sheriffs broke 4 of about 200 new guns within 6 months. Kinda busted that failure rate all to heck as far as they were concerned. ;)

+1 on calling GLOCK, they indicated my ERCXXX G19 was not on the recall list when I called.
