I've been looking at a CW9 and on Kahr's website I noticed the E9 which is comparable in price. On the good side, it has a steel frame and polygonal rifling.I also like the grip better, I'm not a big fan of grips like on the front and back of the CW9.
On the bad side it weighs 25 oz. I carry in an IWB holster behind my hip and right now I carry a P11 which weighs about 14 oz. I'm so used to it that I usually can't even tell it's back there.
I've read quite a bit on the CW9, but haven't found much on the E9.
Could someone please give me info and/or their impressions of the E9?
Thanks, this forum is a great source of knowledge.

E-9 is the econmy version of the K9 just as the CW9 is to the P9.I have done a few mod on my E9 I had a dovetail cut in the slide and changed to the Elite trigger and run a heavier recoil spring but all in all my E9 is a work horse. I also have a K40 and its nice but I am not to thrilled about the .40 accuracy with it. I have over 18,000 rounds thru mine and its keeps working great. Its not pretty like the K series but its basicly the same as a K9 just less machining. As far as weight goes thats up to you. I have carried for over 25 years and you get use to the weight.
I have two lightweight CW9's, and love them. Also have an all steel MK9. The difference? The lighter CW9's always get carried. The MK9, never. It's too heavy compared to the CW9's.

Great point. One wouldn't think 10 ounces would make so much difference, but it does.
The CW 9 is so close in size and weight (but not in capacity, unfortunately) to my Kel Tec P11 that I put one in layaway at my local gun dealer. I'll post my range report when I get it in my hands.
I was worried about the comments that the plastic ones are junk, but I've decided to discount all of that annd see for myself.

If I should ever run out of ammo and have to use my E-9 or K-9 upside someones head, I would prefer the steel.

Maybe I should carry my Kel Tec P11 as a backup - that'd be and extra 11 rounds, 16 if I use the S & W magazine.
I figure if I can't hit 'em with 8 shots, I will deserve whatever they throw my way.
