I just watched Military Channel Beretta spot.

That Kelly guy is supposed to be a Ranger.

He comes off as a total amateur with the Beretta.

Say it ain't so!!!??

Semper Fi!

The guy from Futureweapons on Discovery channel is an ex-SEAL sniper. He too sounds like he has had limited trigger time. It could just be that the producers want them to ask silly questions to help out those at home who don't know, so they come off sounding like amateurs.

Keep in mind that these shows were made for people that know little or nothing about firearms.

Or... it could be the reason that they are former Ranger/SEAL types.

To be honest, unless your an officer, medic, machine gunner, armored vehicle operator, or in a Special Forces Outfit (Special Forces, i.e Delta, Seals, Force recon, etc)...Rangers are special, but they are considered specialized light infantry, that issues a sidearm as a secondary weapon, most Soldiers/Marines do not use or are issued a sidearm, even though Movies would have you believe differently.

Every Fighting man who is not hindered by carrying a rifle carries a rifle. It is probable that other than a FAM Fire the Former Ranger might have very limited experience with pistols. Also, not everyone in the Armed Forces, or Police Officers like guns, or are very good with them: believe it or not.

Also, I believe he said something like it was 10+ years since he had shot any weapon, he stated he is a Former Ranger...

I have worked with Seals before, as OPFOR, Deployment and such. Believe me, even if they don't know **** abouts Glocks, or a Winchester 94, they know all they need to know about their issued weapons and common enemy weapons encountered and are highly proficient with all of them. They are some of the most professional, humble people to talk to, unless of course you say your better than they are:tongueout: As far as not having a lot of trigger time, a Seal Operator probably shoots more rounds in a given year than most of us will shoot in a lifetime.

I would never say a bad thing about Seals, I was never a Seal or claim to be a Seal, but I've seen them work and they are TOP NOTCH. They deffinately have my respect, past and present.

I respect the the SEALs also, of course they are top notch. I do remember once aboard the USS Tarawa back in 1989 or so that a group of SEALS caught my attention by lighting their little fuel gel powered stoves in their berthing area and starting to heat up some grub. The reason it caught my attention was that we were located right below the flight deck, big jet fuel lines flowing in every direction and huge signs as big as life saying "No Smoking Or Open Flames".

And no they did not put them out........I just left the area and laughed to myself.

I also caught that show with the Beretta and the host Kelly was not the one who came off looking weak to me. The "instructor" who was showing him how to shoot proceeded to say he had over a million rounds down range with the M9. Then he shot what I thought was a pretty unimpressive group from a guy with a gun he had 1 million rounds thru. I hope after a million rounds I cn shoot better than that.

Guy was a marine too........ The darn Ranger came off looking better all things considered!

I think it is obvious you were not a SEAL and I doubt your claims. The reason I doubt is that you didnt capitalize SEAL. Its an acronym and what you are talking about is the marine mammal. Not a Special Operations personnel member.

There is another thread in here along the same lines regarding the authenticity/credibility of Survivorman.

Bottom line: It's television. The show is not run by the host, it's run by producers and network executives who are trying to fill time between commercials. Remember, programs cost money, commercials make money. (Ask any LEO if a 30-minute episode of COPS gives an accurate portrayal of a typical day on the job.)

99.99% of television is crap. It may be crap with a military theme, an educational theme, a nature them... but it's all crap. A single half-hour television show kills as many brain cells as a sixpack of beer.

Turn if off and think about that for a minute.

While you drink a beer.

I wonder why I even bother postin sometimes; did you actually read my post? Here let me quote myself from my text that you "READ"

"I would never say a bad thing about Seals, I was never a Seal or claim to be a Seal, but I've seen them work and they are TOP NOTCH. They deffinately have my respect, past and present."

There, it clearly states that I was, am not, have never been a "SEAL" whoa, all caps, great detective work Dick Tracey. I am a former Marine, I have worked with SEALs on deployment and in training missions, because that is what Marines do. Oh, please everyone forgive when I forget to capitalize every letter of every acronym I ever type on this board. What an ASSHAT.

Tecumseh, you actually managed to get another poster's quote grouped in with my rebuttel to his post, thanks again for solving these great mysteries of LIFE.

I wrote a rebuttal post to his post, that is not my post which you quoted me as saying in your post regarding me. Way to go buddy, anything else you wanna question me on, say like my word, integrity...? How about you slow down and take the time to read peoples posts before you bad mouth them or call them liars. Thanks a lot by the way for calling me a liar, I want you to know I really appreciate that. Atleast when I post a rebuttal I read a persons whole post and think before I type.

And as far as you "Doubting my claims," what is it that you doubt exactly:

1. Marines work with SEALs as OpFor Training, FAST Platoons
2. That I respect them, Ok, I'll clear that up for you, I really, really respect SEAL Operators and what they do.
3. Last but not least, I will state again, though I thought it was clear in my original post, I am not a SEAL or have ever been a member of the SEALs. I am a Former Marine, and that is good enough for me and those that came before me.

Anything else you would like to clear up or get off your chest? Because, I'm all ears...

BTW, did you notice I remembered to type the last "S" of SEALs lower case, because if I didn't the acronym would be wrong again and then you would just call me a liar again because of my poor grammer and Forgetfulness. It must be nice to be a Nazi acronym agent and pass your wise judgement on others becuase of a type-o:thumbsup:

How did I miss this post. I was in 1st Batt. and hardly I mean hardly ever held my M9 much less shot it. I was too busy perfecting my performance on the M4, Ma Duece, MK19, 240, and various other weapons that I had to know everything about. With that being said even though I hardly shot the M9 I knew how to work it, I was maybe issued it twice during my tenure, other than that it stayed in the arms room.
