I know didly squat about AK's except that I want one. What is the story, good, bad or indifferent, about the "Lancaster Consulting" models being sold at Atlantic Firearms.

Never heard of them ..... that's not saying they're "bad". Personally, if I were to buy a non-factory AK ( aka "kit build" ), I'd stick with someone well-established ( Arsenal, Armory, Vector, or hell even Century ). For the same money you can get a Vector underfolder or a Century Yugo underfolder, of which no one has yet complained.

+1 for Century Yugo underfolders.Just picked up another Century Yugo underfolder Today for $421 + tax here in Oklahoma.They are built well and Century seems to have done these right the first time.I'm back up to two underfolders and one fixed stock B1 model.Get one while you can.Here is a pic of the M92 pistol I ordered off of the EE at AKForum:
