View Full Version : Talk Me Into A G-36

I'm growing interested in a G-36 for CCW and possibly a back-up to my P220R. The G-21 and G-30 are too fat. But, the G-36 fit my mitts well. The recoil was stout, but it was accurate.
How do you guys CCW yours? How do you carry spare mags? One spare or two? Ammo? I like RangerT 230gr.
Any upgrades(half the fun)? I have heard of an after-market recoil spring and rod. Magazine extentions? What's the most rounds you can put into it? 7+1? Anyone use one for HD? Lasers? Tac lights?
Thanks, Big Dawgs
Don

It's a .45ACP and it's a Glock, what more reason do you need?
I've held G36's and really liked the way they felt but have never had a chance to shoot one.
From reading about them though, it appears that there are quiet a few people who love them and a few who will bad mouth them until the day the die.
If the G30 doesn't fit you, or you're not will to adapt to it, then by all means get a G36.
I love my G30 and like the fact that 13 round G21 mags will fit it. A Glock 21 is my next purchase.
Good luck,
Steve

The G36 is my least favorite Glock, BUT that is just me. If it fits you and works well, then by all means rock on! :)
I REALLY like my G36.
Roughly the size of my Commander, but lighter. I use a CTAC holster and actually carry it daily, no spare mag. Like all of my Glocks, I've added a Scherer 3.5 lb connector and Meprolight Tru Glo night sights. I have a couple mags with Pearce + 0 mag base plates. Nice for range fire.
Ammo- LSWC's for practice, Win RA45T for carry. With the slower 230gr ammo and Mep sights, it prints about 6" high at 25 yards. I rolled some faster 200gr practice ammo and it hit POA. I'm still a 230gr fan, so I just adjust my picture.
A realistically sized carry pistol in a decent caliber.
My first .45 Glock was the 36. I also felt it fit my hand better than the 30. After about 6 mos, I ended up buying a 30, and since then I've acquired another 30 as well as a 21. I shoot the 30 better than 36, probably just me, as the 36 is accurate also. Its just that I shoot the 30 better, and because of that I prefer to carry the 30. The 30 does carry "larger" than the 36, but I've never needed to carry the 36 because I couldn't easily conceal the 30. Either will do you well.

I really like my Glock 36. In the winter when out on snow shoes it is my favorite packing gun. Very light and thin. I like the 230 grain loads in mine. It even handles +P loads if that is what you like. It is a great little gun.

I don't like my G36 as well as my other 2 Glocks (19/27).
I have small hands and it's hard to grip the gun properly while getting the firing finger on the trigger. I end up rotating my hand to the right and the thumb joint ends up directly behind the gun on recoil.

I'm thinking a G-36 and a P220 Carry would be a nice .45ACP CCW combo. Thoughts?

I love mine, it is my winter carry. I have +0 ext, butt plug, Mep nite sites, custom ext slide release, custom smooth trigger, and $0.25 trigger job. It has somewhere near 1.5k rds through it and functions flawlessly. Federal Tactical 230gr +P is what's in the pipe.
Another shamless picture and plug for my G36.

^ Somehow this pic ends up all over this site, wonder how that happens?

Oh yeah, I forgot......
Just buy it, you won't regret it.
I've never met a Glock I didn't like. If it fits your hands, buy it.
