What would you consider as the best carry round? I am looking for +p or +p+. I am new to 9mm just bought my second actually my 1st was a glock and my new ccw a sig 228. I want to carry it for protection and don't really know what rounds penetrate and expand well as all my knowledge is in .40/.357 sig.
Thanks guys

Remington's 124 gr +P Golden Saber is also a good round.
Many people also like the Winchester Ranger.
Whatever round you decide to use, run 100 or so through your carry gun to make sure they work with 100% reliability. It might be expensive, but your life is worth the cost of making sure your chosen carry ammo will feed through your carry piece with absolute reliability.

The middle weight +P and +P+'s all seem to be pretty good.
I'd pick up a couple boxes each of the Gold Dot 124 +P, the Golden Saber 124 +P, the Winchester 127 +P+, Corbons 125 gr +P, and some of the Corbon DPX and see which works best in your gun.

look into how may +p rounds you can fire in your 228. It will give you a slight ballistic advantage, but if it boogers up your gun, it could do more harm than good. You may want to limit your +p shooting through your gun. (I don't shoot Sigs, so if someone has more info, chime up) That said, the standard loadings in Gold Dot 124Gr is pretty decent, as is the Federal HST round.

There is no reason to beat your gun to death with +P+ loadings.
Practice wit the mild stuff and carry the hot stuff.
In a real shoot you won't notice the difference.
IMO,you should shoot just enough hot stuff to familiarize yourself with it and to function check....not too many.
I'm liking the Double Tap stuff right now...particularly the 147gr+p

I changed my mind......... I changed over to Speer 124gr. Gold dots in standard PSI insteed of the +P's due to I found out that the standard PSI has better penetration than the +P round. I myself like the more penetration factor. The +P round is still a good round, this is just me.

Stats like that are only good if you are attacked by the staypufft marshmellow man. Humans have hard bones and muslce protecting vitals. What works on the street?

Someone by the screen name thejackbull45 might not be too keen on depending on 9mm for self defense...
My favorite is the 124gr+p Gold Dot, as loaded by Black Hills.
