With Arsenal not having ANY 5.45mm rifles in their inventory and the lack of 5.45mm spare parts at K-VAR, I am beginning to wonder if 5.45mm is on its way out?
Arsenal couldn't make enough of the rifles when I bought my SLR-105 three years ago...I had to get on a waiting list.
Now all of those rifles are discontinued/out of stock. What gives?
Anyone got the scoop on this?
That is a very good thing. Maybe the price of 5.45x39 ammo will
drop if they stop making them.

....the WASR2 is still being imported
I am guessing the Arsenal 5.45's didn't go well because all the ammo comes from outside the US; also the cost of the rifles, even though lower than most of the 7.62x39 models ( for which ammo is available at Wally World ), had probably something to do with it. I managed to buy one of the last SLR-105's in the spring..... most accurate AK I've fired, but a lot of it has to do with the round itself.
GlockViking,
What do you call "spare 5.45 parts" ? Aside from bolt, barrel ( why? barrel wears out, an AK is trashed, and more importantly how does one wear a barrel out  ), carrier ( although one could use a AK-100 series that takes the "skinny bolt" ), extractor and firing pin ( again, 1000's of rounds before either of these goes to crap if proper care is exercised ..... you're not at war so clean your AK every now and then . ), and of course magazines, all other parts are interchangable between AK's.

I've already seen this happening in my area. One of my local shops received a couple of pallets of Wolf 5.45 and when no one (except for me) was buying it they dropped the price to $140 per case.
While that's not as good as it once was it's better than it was.
I sure hope the price of ammo goes down. I bought a WASR-2 and just recently finally found rounds for it. I ended up paying a crapload though. I don't think there are any good deals left on 5.45 and I haven't even gotten to shoot mine yet!
