View Full Version : Anti GAP?
I'm posting this here because I don't want the usual fight it would turn into in the general or ammo forums. Can any of you explain why some people are so vehemently opposed to the GAP cartridge? I mean seriously, why does it matter to them? It's as though they are looking forward to the cartridge's demise. I really don't get it, and I don't even own one (yet).

Dave,
They are just being immature, spoiled children, upset because Glock has never made a full sized, single stack .45ACP. Nearly everyone that has tried a G37/G38/G39 like it enough to buy one.
Danny sum it up the best. Also the purpose of the GAP was to have the same grip as the Full size, compact and the sub compact in the 9mm and 40 S&W. To me that means alot. I held a G21 and it felt like I had no grip on the gun.

GAP envy. I don't care for 10MM or 357 Sig but I don't go around bashing the round and saying it will fail ect. There is just not enough time in the day for all of that wasted energy. I love my G38 and it is darn accurate.
Many people derive their "self worth" from having others "validate" [their] actions. It bugs them somone would choose another caliber- or gun- or car...
Look at the 1911 thread about the Taurus PT1911...
It doesn't make any difference to me what gun or caliber you carry- or what car you do or don't drive...but some people aren't that way.
I carry different calibers or guns based on the situation or task I am facing, not on what some internet poster "needs" me to carry so that He can feel all warm and fuzzy.
I'm surprised their isn't a "Anti-GAP" club in the Gun-Related Forums yet, counting down to when GAP dies off. You would think the government was taking away their .45ACP handguns and giving them these sissy GAP guns. For some reason, people are taking GAP too hard.
They think it's:
-worthless, stupid, idiotic, etc:rofl:
-"a answer to an unasked question"
-where are the high-cap mags?;)
-where's the +P?
-Gaston on a "power trip"
-ballistical similar to ACP... yeah right!:animlol:
I love my GAP. I also love my ACP. I also love my 9x19. I also love my .223/5.56mm. I also love my 12-gauge. I would love to have other calibers too, but I don't hait any calibers or guns, I respect them. We all need to stick together for we are all loyal gun owners who love to shoot and feel we need these tools to protect ourselves if needed... period.

i fell into the .45GAP just by chance. i came across a SMOKIN deal on a G37. when the fella told me about the round it shot i was not sure about it. then, my common sense kicked in. this deal was so good even if it was the worst cartridge known to man, heck, it's still a glock and throws some big lead around.
my big suprise came when i fired it the first time. man, what a shooter this round is. plus i'm much more accurate vs. some larger framed big caliber glocks due to me havin small mits.
highly recommended in my book.
i've never looked back and will not purchase a .45ACP weapon again (unless it's a stupid good deal like this one was.

the gap fits me well. i have small hands and the the acp glocks are just to big for me. so i bought a 19. when i heard about the 38 coming i started saving and in time got what i needed. big bore in a perfect size package. that matches acp in every way. gaston and robert had a great idea with this one and im a die hard gap advocate. period.

dogsoldier,
I carried a 1911 of one pattern or another for all but the first 9 months of my law enforcement career and since retiring for 8 of the 12 years my state has had legal concealed carry. Four of those years I carried a Glock.
Despite being a big fan of the 1911 and the 45 ACP cartridge, I can see the role and utility of the 45 GAP. What I don't understand is the vitriol spewed against the GAP, even here on Glock Talk.

I'm a Glock owner since 1987. I just got my first 1911 a few weeks ago for fun at the range and the nostalgia. My daily carry is a G 30. When I decided to move up to .45 from 9mm as my CCW, I considered the GAP and ACP. The ACP works better for me, even though I have smaller than average hands. I decided the G 30 is a great combination of size and firepower. I shoot it well and it carrys comfortably and discretely.
I'm not anti GAP, or anti any firearm or cal. that works for anyone else. I don't think you can catagorize me as a "1911, ACP. fascist," or any other kind of fascist.

Come on guys I wasn't all that serious, I have a G30 and a G21, so I enjoy ACP as well, but I bet if we could check the inventories on all the gap haters, I would bet most worship 1911s.

When the 45 GAP came out I swore I woulnt have one of the things, so I bought 2 !:devildance:
I still say, get both! As long as you keep the ammo straight, the more .45's the better. I carry a 1911(ACP), because I find it more comfortable, and I prefer the additional grip safety on my carry weapon. But I will NEVER give up my G37. Also have an XD in .45GAP and probably will break down and get the G38 before all is said and done.
