Is a lighter round better for a .357sig than a heavier round?
Any advantage to the heavier round in .357sig or is the lighter round recommended since it's a "speed round"?
(no disrespect meant by "speed round"...it just seems to me that .357sig is not much smaller than my .40, but a whole lot faster.)
**edited to remove link. I read Sig, but it was really .357 mag in the link.
Question still stands though. what is ideal "grainage" for a .357sig?

It depends. Are you reloading it, hunting with it, target shooting with it, or carrying it?
As a reloader, 115 Rem JHP's are easy to load. As a hunter 124's seem to do a better job on vermin. As a target shooter 147 Hornady XTP's are tops. I never carried my 229 sport, so I can't answer this one.
So which group are you in?

It would be a carry round. All of my ammo needs to be good enough for a carry round.
Thanks in advance.

I agree on the 125gr JHP. I'm not in the school of "bigger is better." I like 115gr in 9mm, 125gr in .357sig, and 165gr in .40.

The 357 sig was developed in an attempt to replicate the FBI 357 magnum, 125 grain load in the tactically superior automatic pistol form. Ballistically, the 125 grain load achieves this goal.
I stagger Speer Gold Dot 125 gr. JHP and Winchester Ranger 125 gr. Bonded JHP in my magazines.
IM HIP TO THE 9MM=115 GN,357 SIG= 125 GRN SCHOOL OF THOUGHT.

I like the 147's for bowling pins. They seem to do a little better than the 125's at clearing them off the table.
I follow the design. The best bonded bullet that goes the fastest (125gr Gold Dot from Double Tap Ammo) is the one I use. I think it is one of the most accurate rounds I have ever fired.
It is one of the most powerful rounds available on the market, it does everything right and better than most.
