OK, does the 45GAP take the small pistol primer?
Is it the same length as the 40S&W?
What's a good duty load for it?
Why the 45GAP over the 45ACP?
I don't mean to flame. I've been interested in the round adn wanting to hear about it from here first.
I'm thinking of trading for a GAP, but just want to make sure I don't have to add more "stuff" to reload for it.
Thanks for all and any info.

Yes, small pistol primer.
Not really the same length, most factory rounds are shorter, but the saami "offical" OAL is 1.137 where the .40 is 1.135".+
For a Duty load I would go with either a) 230gr Federal HST or b) Speer 200gr Gold Dot. To add, 230gr Federal Hydrashoks and Winchester 230gr Rangers are excellent choices too :)
I like the GAP because it fits in the same size frame as the .40/357 SIG and 9mm. It outshines .45 ACP ballistics and gets fairly close to .45 ACP +P ballistics.
I have a Glock 38 and it's pure joy to shoot, and accurate!

Thanks for the info!
My Chief and several "regulars" at my PD (I'm "just" an AUX LEO)were looking into standardizing equipment. We're small, under 20 LEOs including AUXs, but its a pain ordering five differant types of ammo and gear.
Everyone is 45 to the wall, but I like my 40S&W and would even like the 9mm. Funny though, I've out shot everyone with 45ACPs in our group. But then, I shoot two to three times a week also, about 75 to 100 rounds each trip to cover the basics.

I'm REALLY liking the G38! I would really like for it to be my next GLOCK. But I'm waiting til LWD or someone offers a production aftermarket barrel so I can shoot my home casted bullets in it.
I hope LWD or STORMLAKE gets something in the works ASAP!

mine are not home cast, but I have put plenty of 230 and 255 cast lead bullets down the standard Glock barrel.......
very little lead buildup at the low velocities Im at.....
GAP brass is very strong too
would I run lead in a stock Glock 40? no, but 45 GAP is another story
Jerry,
Just for your info, BarSto makes GAP barrels right now.

Neither Jarvis or Bar-Sto have plands for a 9mm conversion barrel. No sure about KKM.
