View Full Version : Yugo M70 underfolder...
Hi everyone.
I'm thinking of buying a Yugo M70 underfolder, and I have a couple questions for those who are in the know.
1. Is it milled or stamped?
2. Is this thing much more solid than the WASR I had for 3 months, then sold?
3. Is the barrel of high quality?
4. Is it possible to replace the forend?
5. Will the place where the stock locks in when folded get loose?
6. Any other interesting facts about it?

1. Is it milled or stamped? STAMPED
2. Is this thing much more solid than the WASR I had for 3 months, then sold? YES
3. Is the barrel of high quality? CAI HAS GOOD QUALITY U.S. MADE BARRELS
4. Is it possible to replace the forend? I DO NOT THINK SO
5. Will the place where the stock locks in when folded get loose? POSSIBLY OVER EXTENDED TIME/USE
6. Any other interesting facts about it? CAI YUGOS BUILT ON DCI RECEIVERS ARE QUALITY WEAPONS. I OWN ONE AND WOULD NOT GET RID OF IT FOR ANYTHING

a yugo ak-47 folder, but i want synthetic furniture and a scope on it.
Thanks for the straight answers, jrs.
Mr. Wiggins, I am with you. The main thing that's holding me back right now is the forend issue. I really wanted to put a synthetic forend on it.
What is the problem with the scope? Does the Yugo not have a side mount?

Burns and mrwiggins,
The handguards ( BTW I hate using "forend" unless referring to a shotgun :tongueout: ) of the Yugo are slightly longer than both Soviet/ComBloc and Chinese-pattern AK's. Most, if not all, of the synthetic US-made handguards are patterned after the Soviet ones. The lower could be made to work with some shimming; the upper ( gas tube cover ) would require a Soviet/ComBloc gas tube ( which will need to be shimmed ) or a Chinese tube ( in which case the cover must be trimmed ) to work. Maybe someone will come out with Yugo-specific synthetic furniture for the AK, just like they did with the Yugo SKS gas tube/piston.
Burns,
The Yugo does not and cannot have a side rail, as it will interfere with the folding stock ( even with no optics attached ). Any underfolder will not have a side rail. Sidefolders and full-stocked rifles can.

I have heard "gun shop rumors" that replace ment hand gaurds will be avalible for yugos "soon" but who knows. They are great weapons I love mine and like said above I wouldnt get rid of it for anything.
A top mounted rail doesn't appeal to me. To "wobbly". Darn, wish it had a side mount - we'll see.

with a crome lined barrel
The Yugo is not chrome lined...not important to me. The CAI build IS using a 1.5mm receiver though, which I do like. Vector may be chrome lined, but I've heard iffy fit and finish on tht particular underfolder. This is not representative of all Vectors.
