View Full Version : Anyone heard of G30 slide failures?
One of our sergeants had his G30 slide come apart on him the other day at the local gun shop. He was shooting Federal Hydra shoks at the time of the failure.
Slide fractured at the ejection port. Had about 200 rounds through it. Brand new gun. No lead rounds fired through it.
Anyone else had this problem or know of anyone who has?
That's a new one to me. Please keep us posted and let us know if you find out what caused it.

It's happened with most other models as well.
That is a particularly thin area with a lot of machined edges and corners, all it takes is for there to be a small machining error or a problem with the metal and you can get cracks and breaks.
Fortunately it's a rare problem and usually manifests itself early.
Glock will fix it.
Yeah, I have close to 1000 rounds through mine with no problems.
He sent it back to Glock and they are getting him a new gun.
Only thing is the rear of the slide flew back and hit him in the chest. He was holding it low doing rapid fire point and shoot drills.
He was wearing his vest but had he been sighting it with his eye he would have caught that slide in the face. That would have been nasty.
Oh well. I won't be gunshy about shooting mine. Thanks for the replies.
No problems with mine...
Corbons, Blazer and Hornady thru it...I'd say 500 rds so far...
it is dirty, why dont i let you clean it...
(thats right, put your prints on it)
hehe...
You ready for some halloween fun?

I've put 1000's of rounds through my G30 of all different types. I've had one failure ever and that was a stovepipe while shooting left-handed, so that was my error, not the gun.
