View Full Version : Early Beretta Stainless 92's>???
My gal has a Beretta in storage, from before we met. It was a gift to her, likely around the late 80's/early 90's at most.
She claims it's stainless...
I was just curious about the history/timeline of the Model 92 in stainless, and where would one of that period have been made>???
 Thanks for any ideas...
Search for "INOX." All I know is that is what they call their stainless guns.
In this case it is a 92 INOX

If I am not mistaken, I got mine around that time. Probably 1990 or 91.
I was able to get one with a pretty low serial number and a second one right after that. Both were Italian made pistols and both were INOX copies.
The slide and barrel are stainless and the frame is an alloy blend coated with a silver finish.
My employer went to those in the early 90's to replace their nickle Model 19 Smith wheelguns. We still carry the 92 INOX though they have been traded in for American made 92S a few years back. Several of the guys prefer the Italian made copies, myself included.
I'll keep the personal one with the low serial number and when offered the opportunity to buy my current duty weapon, I'll probably pass.
More than likely, your GF has an Italian made 92. It should say something like "Pietro Beretta Gardone VT" on the slide and then "Made in Italy" right after a little slash on the slide stop side of the slide.
American copies say "Beretta USA CORP Ackk_Md" and then "Made in USA"
I'll try to post a pic of each.
THAT PRETTY MUCH SAYS IT ALL!:animlol:

What are the prices of these Inox 92's? Are they only higher priced because there are not lots of Italian made 92's?

Prices for Inox were always $75-$100 bucks more than Bruniton models. And now that Beretta has dropped the Inox line, the price is going to only get higher.:)
