Easy to do yeah but i dont think its worth getting put in prison for awhile..IF the ATF found out then you would be in trouble. you can get conversion devices for them but you have to be law enforcement or military.
appreciate the warning.....not likely to do this, just never seen that before

Notice how at the end, the guy went waaaaay past 180 with a slide-forward on a VERY HOT chamber. If he had a round baking in that chamber, it could have cooked off and the bullet would have gone in a very dangerous direction.
SAFETY SAFETY SAFETY, no matter how much you are horsing around.

Problem is, you can't without being a law enforcement department or a bonafide government military unit.

That looks like a video of a Glock 18 with a shoulder stock (full auto from the factory) at the Knob Creek Machine gun shoot.

That is not a GLOCK 18. The switch on an 18 is on the side of the slide. His switch was on the back of the slide.

I used a trigger stop with a set screw in the trigger and for short bursts it was a full auto. I had to back out the set screw some. I didn't like so I got rid of it. I went to the Long Wolf trigger stop. It made me grin for a short time.

I do a couple of military matches in Germany each year and was invited to use 2 FA backplates. These are legal to own in Germany, but are not legal to install without a special permit.
Installs just like a normal backplate, fun to use, see no practical purposes. The first one is a selector, the second one is FA only.

I'm not allowed to own them, so I don't.

Everytime I see a picture of one of those, I wish our Gun laws had no issues with full auto. They'd probably be a fun, $30 add on in the US available at Topglock, Lonewolf, etc... that most people would buy at some point just for giggles.
i've shot converted g17 with the second type conversion
without the stock it is hard to control for accuracy though with 30+ rds you can do in a man type target at 25 yds with at least 5-10 hits
was fun, but uzi with stock is way better out to 100-200 yds

Is the conversion from US-spec semi-auto to selectable full auto just a matter of changing the backplate or are there other changes needed?

There are no other changes needed.
Lots of ammo and you'll be good to go.
