bow season opened here last weekend. saturday morning i saw a 6-pt. about 60 yards away. he threw his head in the air and smelled me. he turned his head and out came a nice 8-pt. they both smelled around for a few minutes and looked behind them. a fawn came walking by them and walked right up to the tree i was in. after the fawn passed me, the bucks walked off in the other direction. sunday morning, just before daylight, 4 hogs came walking about 25 yards from my tree. i missed (darkness is my poor attempt at justification for missing). i didn't get to go this weekend, but i just got a call from my hunting buddy. he was in the same tree i was in when i missed the hogs and he took a 120# doe with his recurve. this time of year gets me in the mood for some ted nugent (

thats awfully coincidental. my business partner is the hunting buddy that took the doe this past weekend. he and i were actually talking about you today about the tarsal glands.

wow ;)

I going to GA for some deer hunting here soon but if not I have another place I want to try this gland swap or a buddy is going to bring one down from far north and we will swap out scent glands.

It would be nice if you could extract the scent vrs having to carrying around a gland vaccum wrapped in my case. I have it specially marked so I don't mistaken it for food.

I can't even imagine how horrible that would be.

we hit the woods again after work today. my buddy saw 8 bucks travelling together, closest being about 75 yards. the guy's land we were hunting saw 10 bucks, including 2 nice shooters, but they were right at dark and just out of bow range. about 30 minutes before dark a big doe stepped out about 100 yards. i watched her until it was just about dark when i heard another behind me. i stood up and shined my headlamp at her. she couldn't have been more than 30 yards. i got hair but we looked forever and couldn't find any blood. darkness is about to get the best of me.
