ok so my front site is bent to the right. i've thought about buying the site adjusting tool but i noticed recently that on my wasr, the metal around the actual front site is solid, so there is no way to adjust it left or right, you can only screw it up and down from the top....
am i missing something here or can you not adjust the left to right of my front site?

Is the front sight block canted??? If thats the case then the fix is not easy......

That front sight definitely had too much :animlol:
If the whole front sight assembly ( ears and all ) is canted in relation to the rear sight ( unload rifle, stand buttstock on floor, look down from the muzzle ..... front sight assembly should be centered, more or less, with the receiver and rear sight block ), it is not a home-repair for most of us.
However, if you want to move the front sight post left and right, you should use the clamp-type sight tool. The post sits in a drum-type deal which CAN be moved left-and-right. It will take some force the first time, might have to soak it in brake fluid and will loosen up.
Canted sights are purely cosmetic, if the rifle shoots point-of-aim , there should be no worries.

If the front site just needs windage adjustment there is a tool for that. I bought mine for $9.95 from AK47man but I have seen them for like $4.95?

Go here, http://www.gunsnet.net/Linx310/index.shtml, and review the resources and tutorials in the left column. You will probably find the information you are looking for.

superspud,
If the whole front sight assembly is like / ( post and ears crooked )and the rifle shoots point-of-aim, no worries. If the post is like / and the rest of the sight assy is straight, you need a new post, screw the old one out and screw the new one it. Or maybe the post is in there crooked with the threads stripped, and then you would need to get a new adjusting slide as well.
Check out www.k-var.com , look in the "spare parts" section. They'll have both, and even a new front sight assy. The whole front sight assy with post and slide should be like $15, but shipping will kill you. Or put up a WTB ad.
Good luck !
