Anybody get their Slide hard chromed?

Has anybody had a HK slide hard chromed? Where, how much, any pics?

That's real nice. Tripp's who I've been considering. I don't know if I'll have the extractor and barrel blued or not instead because I like the contrast.

Yeah! I like the contrast better also. Just do the slide. From what I have read that finish is VERY good! Does not wear easily.

Yep, something about it. I never cared for the look of Sigs until I saw a duo-tone one.

I have never had a two-tone untill I got my USPc .45 SS. I really like the finish!

Yeah you've got a nice collection going gunut, a Tactical AND a Compact stainless!:)

I keep telling myself I'm saving up for the new upcoming ACC REVO-45 can that's going to be hearing safe dry, but if I found a deal too good to pass up on a compact SS or Tac I'd probably wind up starting my can fund over again.

As long I can hold on without buying another HK, I'll get one soon as it's out (probably Jan or Feb) after the NFA wait of course (which has supposedly been moving along fast). My biggest hurdle is going to be picking a barrel (I aim to get the threads like a 45 tac so when I get one it'll inter-change). It's another reason I'm looking at getting the slide chromed as I figure it'll wear better with a can.

cal45, is the finish "shiney" or "matte"? I've seen different jobs (via pics) by Tripp and some look shiney and other look matte, do they do both or is it just the pic?

Tripp calls their hard chrome finish "Cobra Chrome" - it is a matte finsh but it does come close to the look of factory stainless slides that H&K used to ship over here. You can request them to polish the flats which gives the flat surface of the slide a brighter polished look. I chose to stay with the uniform matte finish.

Had 3 P99 slides done - I want my HK USPc slide refinished, but will be going with NP3 when I get it done. Tripp screwed up a 1911 of mine. I'd never go w/ him again...

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with Tripp, but he did do a good job on your Walthers.

I have have had 5 diff H&Ks chromed by Tripp and all came out great - just wish I would have held on to a few of them instead of buying/selling - I loose too much money to calculate. :) Anyway, I just bought a brand new USP 45F and contemplating if this should stay basic black or go to Tripp for a makeover. :supergrin:

Not wanting to piss on anyone's parade but hard chroming the slide voids the warranty on the HK, per HK service dept. I've got a SS compact 9 and love the two tone look, but I'd be hesitant to void a life time warranty just for a little bling.

With just about every manufacturer if you're not the original owner and/or a reloader the warranty doesn't matter anyways.
