View Full Version : Congradulations Air Force On Your Memorial
Pretty cool; saw parts of the ceremony on the news today.
anytime the military branches are observed its great... and well deserved
I was near the memorial during some of the fly overs. Brings back some memories since I am retired AF. By the way, in my opinion the memorial is truly a thing of beauty. It actually reminds me of one of the Thunderbird maneuvers. And it is really close to the Pentagon too which isn't bad.
It is the youngest of the Military Services but the USAF and the AAF before it have done some incredible stuff.
My dad was in B-24s in WWII for all the fun stuff, got recalled for Korea, and was an advisor during the early days of Vietnam. His final duty was standing up the Cheyenne Mt. complex and moving there with NORAD. He's coming up for a visit in a couple of weeks and will be the Guest of Honor during a Black Belt promotion ceremony and demonstration on Veterans Day. The ceremony is always celebrated on the USMC Birthday since the Dojo Master is a retired USMC LtCol. He always pays tribute to the USMC and other Veterans during the ceremony and since my son will be getting his Black Belt this time he asked if my dad would come and participate.
always be proud and respect your military people.
I agree completely, especially since I am also a retired USAF MSGT. I guess it is built into the family genes. My son is probably heading to one of the Service Academies or to VMI or another military college.
