since the other Beretta 9000 feedback thread was closed before I could post, I offer this feedback for hotlunch
1) the newest batch is being imported in smaller quantities in 9mm parabellum
2) I recently purchased one at Gander Mountain for $349.95 + tax & pics fee; came with gun, 2 12 round hi-cap mags (one with the hinged floorplate), hard case, cable lock, cleaning brushes, and factory paperwork
3) I have shot the gun during 2 sessions (150 rounds each); Federal American Eagle 115 gr FMJ (100 rounds) & Winchester 147 gr JHP Personal Defense (50 rounds) for the first session; Winchester 115 gr FMJ (100 rounds) & Winchester 147 gr JHP Personal Defense (50 rounds) for the second session
summary:
trigger is better than previous versions that I handled 2 years ago; the slide is hard to retract at first due to the dual recoil spring assembly; the safety levers are stiff and take a bit of getting used to; I recommend durable snap caps and a few dry-fire sessions before heading to the range (it will accustom the owner with how to operate the safety levers and decrease frustration at the renge)
I only experienced 1 failure-to-extract on the second outing with a 147 gr hollowpoint toward the end of the second shooting session (I'm not sure what caused it); accuracy...good for me at 7-10 yards...between 2.5" and 4" groups (I felt rushed since the closest range to my house is an indoor range with hourly fees...I could have done better with more slowfire practice to tighten the groups)
I prefer revolvers all around, but this 'red headed step child' polymer from Beretta has tickled my fancy... :thumbsup: I am thinking about getting a hinged floorplate for the 2nd mag and getting some adapters to use Beretta 92 mags so I can have some higher capacity mags (15 rounds); the attached picture shows some Beretta 92 mags with the adapters
Later...hope this helped!

Nice! i might reconsider getting one as back-up to my E-II. Is the magazine adapter needed to function properly, or more for comfort?

functional reliability--
needed to 'push' the 92 mags into the mag latch on the 9000 frame since the 9000 mags are wider than the 92 mags

I left off with @ 500 rounds on the first posting;
2 more range sessions...
bullets and amounts...
Winchester White Box 115gr fmj (100 rounds)
Winchester Personal Defense 147gr jhp (50 rounds)
Federal American Eagle 115gr fmj (41 rounds--partial box)
CCI Blazer Brass 115gr fmj (100 rounds)
CCI Blazer (aluminum cased) 115gr fmj (100 rounds)
Aguila 124gr fmj (100 rounds)
500 rounds (first 2 sessions) + 491 rounds (next 2 sessions)= 991 rounds
accessories bought: 2 x Mec-Gar 17 round mags (for Beretta 92/M-9); 2 x Beretta 9000S adapters to fit Beretta 92/M-9 mags to 9000S handgun; 1 X articulated floorplate for 9000S mag
summary:
experienced another failure-to-extract with Winchester 115gr fmj (1 previous failure-to-extract during first 2 sessions with Winchester 147gr jhp); at first I thought that 2 FTE's is a VERY BIG DEAL and the gun was being problematic when I was microanalyzing the situation; overall I am pleased with the ergonomics, reliability, and combat accuracy of the Beretta 9000S that I purchased; the Mec-Gar mags work great when the adapters are put on them (the mags fall out when inserted without the adapters--the adapters 'push' the mags into the mag catch on the gun--the 92 mags are not as wide as the 9000S mags);
the articulated floor plate on the 9000S mag allows a full grip and feels comfortable; the safety levers have 'smoothed' a bit--not sure if this is a result from actually 'loosening' or just getting used to working the levers; the slide still takes some OOMPH to retract and a strong grip is required; the button that needs to be pushed to move the takedown lever is hard to press (at least a perpetrator won't be able to strip the slide off the frame if someone gets close enough to grab it);
I am hoping to shoot another 250-500 rounds before the end of the year; if I experience another FTE (failure-to-extract) then I will have the gun shipped back to Beretta for an overhaul
LATER! :wavey:

I think the 9000S is a much better pistol than it gets credit for.I admit,I bought it entirely on looks but it shoots well.I've had mine for 2 years and though it has embarassingly few rounds,900-1100, through it so I'm not sure how well one well broken in would perform,it doesn't reliably extract any Winchester White Box.I've not had a single stoppage in any other load:Fiocchi,S&B,Blazer,Speer however but since I mostly shoot 9mm and my SIG's and Glock gladly eat the cheap stuff,I often leave the poor Beretta home.

I just got a new 9000S, and am love it. I always thought I was missing something about the 9000, it had so many great features other guns didn’t have, was a lower price than other guns in its class, and Beretta stopped making it. Was there something bad about the gun I didn’t know? It all didn’t seem to make sense. But then I read that everyone who owned one loved it and had nothing bad to say about them. I have already shot 600 rounds through mine (haven’t cleaned it or anything yet) and the gun is amazingly accurate and I haven’t had a single jam or anything bad with it. The gun seems almost perfect, has a very good price, etc.
So why isn’t it more popular? Why is Beretta discontinuing it after such a short time on the market? It is the same size as a Glock 26, except costs over $100 cheaper, has a safety/decocker (which is VERY important to me) and shoots MUCH more accurate than the Glock 26. You would think this pistol would be one of the most popular sub compacts out there, but now they are not being made anymore. Its weird. Maybe its because Beretta is coming out with a PX4 Storm sub compact to replace the 9000.

experienced another failure-to-extract with Winchester 115gr fmj (1 previous failure-to-extract during first 2 sessions with Winchester 147gr jhp);
Was this with your 9000? Was it factory ammo? How has your 9000 been doing?

I found the 9000 to be long in the hand, couldn't reach the controls (a problem with every non-Vertec Beretta 9mm i've ever shot). I was seriously thinking about getting one till I actually handled one. I don't have much problem with the 92/M9 other than reaching the mag release (thumb is short) but I figured it shouldn't be a problem on a compact. It was.
Trigger was spongy on the ones I've handled too.

Alicia:
Sorry I haven't checked in recently...
IIRC: the original 9000's had a catalog # stamped into the front of the slide and were dropped a while back; the one I got doesn't have the catalog # on the slide and probably is from a later shipment; it is still not listed on the USA website; can't really figure out what is up, but for $350 I can't complain, except for the aftermarket mags I got (read below);
I am somewhere between 1200-1300 rounds; I have used several brands, types, grain weights, +p and non +p since then and only the 2 Winchester bullets were failure to extract; they were factory ammunition; I'm guessing that the edge of the rim didn't have enough metal for the extractor to hang onto; I've run 3 more boxes of the 147 grain Winchester hollowpoint stuff through since then without a hiccup...so it could have been a sticky extractor also?!?
my latest batch of trouble deals with the hicap MecGar mags that I am using with the adapter sleeves...the followers are not rising enough to lock the slide back and I have intermittent failures to feed with the Federal HST 124 grain +p hollowpoints that I got for defensive work...I'm guessing followers and feeding lip geometry are the culprits...very suprising for MecGar quailty!!!
MecGars were $25 each; Berettas were $35 each and I wanted to save $$$ when I bought them at the gunshow; now I'm going to have to spend @ $60 locally to replace them;
***the picture attached is NOT MY gun, but shows the hicap mags with the adapter sleeves the mag all the way to the left is a parkerized 17 round MecGar...guess the person who owns that mag is having better luck than me!***
