View Full Version : ATN Warning(ATN=P.O.S.) Vincep 10-17-2006, 16:44 http://www.nightvisionforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=1850 http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=6&f=18&t=207293 Mnukedude 11-20-2006, 06:38 Sorry you experience has been bad. I have looked at a few of this company's products with some interest. When I finally had a chance to get my hands on one of their scopes, it didn't strike me as complete junk, but I wasn't overly impressed. I was glad that in the end, I had a TA01NSN instead. Vincep 11-20-2006, 17:23 It's not just ,my experiences. I've heard many horror stories from others. Mnukedude 11-21-2006, 18:20 Would you care to elaborate? Vincep 11-21-2006, 21:05 Originally posted by Mnukedude Would you care to elaborate? http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=6&f=18&t=207293 http://www.nightvisionforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=1850 http://www.nightvisionforums.com/about1862.html-atn-night-shadow.html http://www.nightvisionforums.com/post-6865.html#6865 Read the links it's in there and more. In my case not only did i get 3 defective gen 2 and 3 goggles in a row; i got a fradulent data sheet with it. 99% of all image intensifier tubes in ATN nightvision are USED , repotted rejects or both. I'm not making it up. These are facts. I've bought ATN units in the past but never again. They are a very unethical company that produces poor quality, unreliable garbach. They use very cheap optics compared to mil spec nightvision. Their magnification is either overstated or understated. Their 1x magnification is not a true 1x, it's a 1.4x which makes night navagation awkward. I now buy only milspec units with data sheets and there is NO comparason with ATN. Mnukedude 11-22-2006, 09:29 Ouch. Any night vision I was looking at seriously would be made by ITT. From what I'm getting from these threads, it may be hard to tell who is actually providig the real thing. How can one know for sure? Vincep 11-22-2006, 11:34 The only ITT civilian dealier is morrovision but be prepared to pay top dollar. I get my nightvision from Optics HQ. They have top quality stuff; with top notch customer service, at a reduced price. Here is a review i posted in their forum on a 6015 i got from them. Check out the awesome specs. I paid under $2,800 out the door. The same unit elsewhere would cost 4K. http://www.nightvisionforums.com/about1880.html-6015-from-optics-hq-review.html Mnukedude 11-22-2006, 12:41 This is essentially a PVS-14 variant? I was looking at that one because it was 3rd gen, can use a AA battery, tough as heck, and can be hand held, worn, weapon mountable, and is nice and compact. What is the difference between this and the PVS-14, if any? Vincep 11-22-2006, 18:49 Originally posted by Mnukedude This is essentially a PVS-14 variant? I was looking at that one because it was 3rd gen, can use a AA battery, tough as heck, and can be hand held, worn, weapon mountable, and is nice and compact. What is the difference between this and the PVS-14, if any? A PVS 14 has varable gain, a 6015 does not. With a 6015 you have the option of getting a hand select, kick ass tube like i got. With a PVS 14 you don't. PVS 14's have the auto cut off feature. With MOST 6015's there is no auto cutoff feature when removed from a head or helmet mount. There are some 6015's that have the provision and the internal wiring to have this feature. Believe it or not this feature is disabled on puropse by cutting the flex print going to the battery pack and brass contacts.(on housings that have brass contacts) Optics HQ has them if you ask for a housing that's wired for it. If not, you get whatever they give you because 6015's typically don't have this feature. Vincep 11-28-2006, 20:03 This is a sticky from nightvisionmall(Optics HQ) explaining why they no longer carry ATN Products. http://www.nightvisionforums.com/about1452.html-atn-update.html Here's another recent ATN discussion that popped up. Don't get screwed or let your friends or family get duped. Don't buy ATN Nightvision and warn as many people as you can. http://www.nightvisionforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=1957 vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
