I posted this thread in the sights and laser section as I know it belongs there. I think more of you might see it here first. Any help you can give is appreciated.I recently installed 3 sets of Meps. One was on a G17 and the other 2 were on a g23 and g30. I was using a MGW sight pusher for the rear sights and everything went together as it was supposed to. I installed the front sights on the g17 and g23 with no problems whatsoever. When I tried to install the front sight on the g30 the screw broke off leaving most of it in the sight.I used no more pressure on this one than any of the others which makes me think a defective screw. My question is has anyone had this happen to them and how did you fix it. I dont really want to buy another set of sights. Does anyone have one of the extra screws? How did you remove the broken one? If i call Meprolight and told then what happened and sent them the broken one would they replace it? This is my off duty carry weapon and would like to get it fixed ASAP. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give.

I did the exact same thing to the meps on my G21C. I seriously don't think meprolight will replace the sights. The front sight installation tool is threaded so that once the screw is sufficiently tightened, the threads on the tool slip and prevent you from breaking the screw. In my case the threads on the tool were seized, so I over tightened and snapped the screw. My advice is to whip out the credit card and get a new set enroute.

Why wouldn't they fix the problem? Sounds like a defective screw and should easily still be covered under warranty. The best thing to do is call them and ask for the warranty department. If they don't fix it, find another company to get your sights from.
Yup, I'd call them in a flash.....smart companies like to have happy customers who spread the good word to their friends.
If they don't replace it for you, head over to Ameriglo (http://www.ameriglo.net/store_pages/glock_front_sights.html) to get a new front sight, they'll have one that works with your rear sight and they aren't expensive.

I figured that since I snapped the screw that meprolight would not warranty it. Let's face it, the screw is darn near the diameter of a piece of string, it doesn't take much to snap it. I even think they post a warning on the package if I remember right. Glock30john, if you get them to warranty the sights, please let us know. It would be nice to know for the future, next time I may not give up so easily.

Hopefully they will warranty it, but if not they sell just front sights...around $40. I just bought one from them today.
But why would you want to buy another one if the company won't stand by the original? I would highly recommend trying their customer service and seeing exactly how helpful they are and proceed accordingly.

Several years ago I had a front sight start turning a funky red sort of color. It still glowed fine, but in the daylight it contrasted horribly with the rear sight. Meprolight (Kimber actually) replaced it no questions asked. The front sight I bought today was not a warranty issue.
