View Full Version : TruGlo TFO - yes or no?
I am picking up some Glocks in an hour and want to outfit them all with night-sights.
I was told at the LGS that the best out there are the TruGlo TFO's. I saw them, tried them in a dark room and they didn't seem as bright as other tritium sights I've seen. Maybe the FO is diminishing the amount of light I see at night.
Daytime they're bright as could be.
Anyways, was wondering if GT members here recommend the TFO's or not?
I know this would be more appropriate in the sights section, and that there is a similar topic there right now, but wanted to try a little more high-exposure to get a faster response (was hoping to make a decision quickly as to not prolong things) - and also General Glocking just has more people reading it than the Sights forum.
So yes or no?

thumbs up. I have TFO, mepro, etc. Love the TFOs !!!
I had Mepros before on a previous gun. They were nice. I've also had HIVIZ on one gun in the past, while horrible at night, it was great during the day. I didn't realize until the LGS showed me that there was a product combining both.
Yeah, go with the TFO's. I put a set on my G 30 and I love them. You wont be sorry...
well, the mods moved this thread from General Glocking - which I realized they'd eventually have to do. No problem. :)
I got the responses I needed in time and got 2 TruGlo TFO's with a 3rd waiting and on order (I got the last 2).
Thanks guys.
Have TFO's on my G19. Your correct, they are no brighter (at night) than other night sights.
To me, their strong point is in daylight.

I have ordered a set of Truglo TFO's for my G32. How does the front sight go on? Standard tritium sights seem to have a soft tab or "lip" that you spread out on the inside of the slide. Do the TFOs go on the same way, or is there a screw or something that holds them on?
Any special tool needed?
Thanks
No, they screw on.
I think it would be difficult without a front sight tool.
Got a set of TFO (Truglo)and put them on with Glockmeister's sight tools. The front sight on my 32 is plastic and pulled off with pliers as the directions indicated. The TFO front sight has an oval protrusion that matchs the hole in the slide. Push on, (probably should have told you to unload the gun, remove the slide, remove the spring and plunger to access the bottom of the oval hole). The sight bolt is 3/16th hex hed, very small, used a dot of loctite and put it together. Probably did not need the rear sight tool, the old slipped out easily.. New TRO rear slid in easily and locks in place with an allen wrench. With a green front and yellow rear, the green and yellow look good. Going into a dark room, the green front really pops out. My eyes were not adjusted but the sights were plenty visible. Tomorrow is the daylight/range test.

the tool is a 3/16" shallow socket. The bolt head bottoms out in the tool and the threads are exposed above the socket lip to get it started into the base of the front sight.

My TFO's came today. I put them on with a 3/16" nut driver. I did have to put a small nail in the nut driver (point first, head up) to keep the screw from dropping too far down into the driver. But it was quite easy to do. I also got the yellow rear, green front to have some contrast between the two. I think I will like them.
BTW, this was for my G32 also. This is going to be my primary winter carry gun.
