I'm like a little kid at Christmas time. The form 4 for my SBR goes in the mail tomorrow. From what I understand, I'm getting a Grenadier Precision lower which was registered as a SBR at the factory. Now if I can only forget about it until it comes back w/ the stamp on it. :-(
I haven't done a form 4 in about a year, but will have another one in the mail by Friday too. Getting another CMMG SBR lower. Since the new move to VA from DC, I've heard the current wait times are anywhere from 2-4 weeks. Far better than the 3 months from before.
It will be here soon.......

Mines going through via a Trust instead of personal. Can't get a signoff here so I went an alternate route. I hear that like a Corp that speeds things up quite a bit.
edited to add. This is my first NFA weapon of any sort. I've been into guns for a long time, and work part time at a range which is a C3, but I don't have any NFA stuff of my own *yet*.

Assuming the form is filled out correctly and you included everything you should have included in the package, you'll probably have it approved by Thanksgiving. Almost definately by Christmas.

I'm hoping for 2 - 3 weeks which is what I'm hearing from a lot of people since things moved to West Virginia. I'm trying to forget about it and just let it happen when it happens, but just like when I was a kid on Christmas eve that's impossible. I let the C3 I got it from fill out the Form 4 so it should be done correctly. The only catch is neither of us has ever done anything w/ a Trust before, so it'll be a learning experience.
I'm really interested in hearing how your trust works out, as I may be starting one very soon myself.

So you purchased a receiver only with no barrel, and listed the barrel as 7.5. Is that correct?
I’m curious because I’d like to SBR a 10/22 receiver only and list the barrel length as simply less than 16 inches.
I kinda wondered what a company who manufacturers and sells SBRed receivers would do about varying barrel lengths.
Thanks, Dan

I'm getting a stripped lower. I have a 7.5" pistol. I'll move the upper to the SBR once I get it.
My understanding is they will not currently approve a Form 1 or 4 w/ a variable barrel length, overall length, or caliber. They want something specific in the box. You can send them a letter & notify them if the info permanently changes. On the other hand I don't claim to be an expert on this, so don't believe anything I think on this w/o confirming it. ;-)
My lower was papered as a 10.25 when it was manufactured. It is being transferred to me as a 7.5 since I don't have a 10.25 upper. I think they just pick a common barrel length & paper it as that length.

My form 4 finally came in today. :-) Since I was the test case, it appears a lot of people around here are going to be able to get SBRs now!

Good deal. Not a bad timeframe either. I'm itching to SBR or SBS something lately too.

It probably would have been faster, but they bounced it because IIRC questions 13 & 14 on the back weren't answered. I hadn't ever done a form 4 & the dealer I'm dealing w/ is used to dealing w/ LE, other dealers & personal transfers. It was his first transfer to a trust.
Earlier this spring I did a SB shotgun. It got bounced back because there was some kind of form I had to fill out I had never seen before. Still took only 30 days total.
BTW- mail takes 4 days each way from Alaska.
