Is a G26 too small (size, mag, etc.) for production shooting?

I would say yes - It is a legal production gun for USPSA but I have never seen anyone shooting one. Try it and see what happens - you'll either like it or want to change guns. For what it's worth, a G17 or a G34/G35 is a much better choice for a production glock platform.
If you wanna get good with your carry gun, use it. If you wanna get good at USPSA, you need to be more prepared.

Thanks for the response. Please explain "more prepared".

I believe he means a different more suitable gun (Glock or such) with better than stock sights, a bunch of magazines (6 or more) and the pouches needed to carry them, a tweaked (within the rules) trigger, and lots of WinchesterWhiteBox in your favorite caliber. And practice.:thumbsup:

Makes sense. Thanks for the helpful info. As far as sights go, what would be a good step up from standard factory?

Hoguemeister,
I'll second the 'try it and see what happens' advice...especially if you've not shot a USPSA match before. Just bring your current gear to the match and be prepared to have fun!
For Production division, bring:
-6 magazines (I like to carry 5 mags in belt pouches, but seldom use more than 3, and 1 mag in my back pocket for the 'Barney Fife' round);
-about 200 rounds;
-a good belt holster;
-eye and ear protection; and
-a 'this will be fun' attitude.
From your profile, it looks as though you're in the Atlanta, GA area.

Just about anything is a step up from standard factory - but for USPSA style shooting, these are the most popular set ups -
Heinie race cut rear w/ Dawson fiber optic front
Warren/Sevigny competition sights; and
Dawson rear and front - either fixed rear or he also makes a great adjustable for the glock.
My preference is the Dawson fixed rear with a plain black front site at .105 - Personally, I think Dawson makes the best sights but that's just my opinion.

The g26 is your carry gun I assume?
A g17 or especially a g34 is what you really want to be competitive and successful using a glock in uspsa. Can your 26 hold ten rounds? That's all you need in a mag (x5-6) in Prod. Good holsters and mag pouches on a belt that does not move or shift is crucial too. That's just to really get in "mid-level" with competitive gear. Have fun, but no one is telling you how bad you'll get smoked with a 26, unless you have been using it A LOT. Are you comfortable with 15 yard weak hand shots with that gun? If not, get comfortable. Practice and dry fire until the breech face cracks ;)
Then you should be able to easily win another at a GSSF match or something...

If you just want practice or trigger time its fine. If you want to be competitive its a poor choice.
