I have 1000 large pistol primers and a small collection of .45 brass from the range sitting in the basement as well as some .45 casting stuff on the way from Midway. Then I just need some dies, an aftermarket barrel, and the gun itself. Details, details.

Glad to see there's a 21 club now. I want lots of pics posted so I can drool.

Hooray!!
Glad we got this going. I have a G21C that I have had for about one year. I like it a lot and shoot it as accurately as my Springfield 1911 fully loaded model. The main difference is I am still having last round failure to feed occasionally with the Springfield and my G21 (as have all my Glocks) has been 100% reliable right from the first round.
I am going to have to move into the 21st Century and learn how to take some pics and post them.

I only have the one 21, but it's what I seem to spend most money on, and carry more often than my G26 or snubby these days. Funny how that turned out. When I bought it, I was at a gun show looking over the compact Sigs and drifting towards a G19...but I really wanted something in 45 ACP. Picked up the G21. Felt huge! Gargantuan really, but I knew it was the one for me. Told the man behind the table "I'll take 'er." I was in/out in 30 minutes. Didn't even bother with the rest of the show. Went straight to the range. I don't have the biggest mits in the world, so I wasted time endlessly researching grip reductions, only to discover one day I had completely adapted, and all the grips on my other weapons felt undersized and puny. I hear many complain that the G21 it too big, ungainly, hard to grip, conceal, etc. Well, in my case all that went away with lots of range time, constant carry and, ahem...better tailoring

I'll post pics as soon as I can get the camera away from the kids.

Awesome guys, we now have our own forum! Let's all have a beer. I just bought my G21 2 months ago brand new. I too felt that the grip was too big, but I wanted a 45 ACP and I've always wanted a glock. Plus, 13+1 rounds is almost 2X the capacity of a 1911. So I said what the hell and took the plunge. Haven't been disappointed yet. ~350 rounds through it w/o a hitch. Now I feel I have gotten use to the grip and couldn't imagine firing another .45 as comfortably.

I'll post some pics soon too.

Thanks to all you great people for being persistant and patient.

I really don't think there will be too many caliber wars here, as the G21's stopping power, longevity, reliability, and ease of shooting has never been challenged.

I am a LEO, and I carried an HK .40 on duty, and a G26 off duty. I then saw the stopping power of a G21 when two badguys tried to kill one of our officers. The fight was over in two shots and the officer went home that morning. I am a convert and an advocate of Glock and .45 ACP.

I am in my 40's, and not too well versed with computers. I have a Mac computer. Perhaps someone knows of an existing site to help me and others how to post photos here.

Thanks again for the "21 Club"...

Let's see, I've got two: an AVM and a much newer HYM. I had an ACU which was stolen out of my truck back in Jan 05. I'm still pissed about that one.

Guess i should add that I am in my mid fifties and a retired LEO I would still be working but I had some vision problems so I got retired early. I went from Patrol to FTO then into investigations, I did traffic accident reconstruction for a while then crimminal investigations I specialized in Frauds, and sex crime investigations.I did work and was involved in a number of shooting investigations and homicides.
I have been messing with Firearms and ballistics since I was a kid, (as in pre teen)
Since I retired I have been doing some writing mostly for my own amusment, I am currently working on a western novel, a handloading and shooting manual and a cook book. (talk about varied interests)
IMHO the 45 ACP is the best self defense round ever invented, while it has direct ancestry to the old .45 colt govt. AKA long colt it also owes some history to the 44 WCF AKA 44-40.
But the combination of 200 gen + bullet and 800-900FPS MV makes it a winner in both penitration and wound cavity. As has been said "a 9MM or a 40 may expand but the 45ACP will never shrink"
All the talk about this JHP VS that JHP is really moot because the Old 45 ACP even in the hardball configuratuion has proven itself time and again as a fight stopper, and with the newer JHP's from Winchester, Remington and Speer. The only problem is what bullet you decide on they all work very well.
Now the platform, I have to admit I was a 1911 fan from the first one I got out of a magazine ad in 1964, bought with saved up paper route money, to the last one I built in the late 1970's I thought they were it as far as great pistols. After I rebuilt that first one and learned how the parts went togeather and the pitfalls of the 1911, I built four or five more selling them off after I got tired of them and then finding another beater in a pawn shop and starting on rebuilding it. Then in the late 1980's I got a Glock 19 in a trade, 9MM not a good choice but what the heck. It shot good was easy to carry, I was in Law Enforcment then and always looking for a reliable Back up and one that didn't scream Cop. I was working some under cover assignments and a S&W snubbie was usually a dead givaway. Only thing I didn't likew about the 19 was that it was not a 45. Then Gaston came out with the 21 just for us Americans. I ahd been working on the administrationin my dept. to allow semi auto's for duty carry they were still stuck on the S&W and the City Govt. had a vested interest in the then issue 686's worn out as they were.
Got the City Government and the Chief to go along with testing semi auto's and was on the team that did the testing. Wetested several makes and models, freezing, soaking in water, and ice, mud sand and well I guess you get it. The Glocks passed every test.So long story short the Glock 22,23 and 21's were ok'd for duty carry if the officer wanted to supply his/her own pistol. Got them to make a group buy since forty nine out of fifty sworn officers wanted the Glocks, even the chief, (who I had allowed to fire my 19 and he fell in love with it) I sold the 19 and bought my two consecutive 21's I carried them one or the other the rest of my career on duty and off. Never had a problem in any weather or conditions. I live in SW Kansas Hot and dry 105 and dusty to -10 and freezing rain and blowing snow. I have had it so cold and wet the Pistol was covered with a film of ice, and still functioned, dry and blowing dust to the point the pistol was covered with dirt, still functioned. I just cannot asy enough good about Glopck 45's
Well thats my opinion anyway.
I do not see a need for any lesser pistol or caliber, except for plinking at cans or somthing

This is great. THANKS GLOCKTALK!

I've always been a fan of the G21. I still like the 2nd gen's the best. I just picked up an old one with a prefix of APZxxx. It's in super condition with original night-sites (They are dim but still fairly visable).

This is weird....the slide release has zero wear?

Why not have a section for one of the all-time great 45's?

I originally posted this in the Big Dawg forum, but now that we 21 type guys have our own, I thought I would re-post it here:

In October 1993, I bought a G21. It was a lovely pistol. Since I had numerous other firearms, including other Glocks, I shot the G21 rarely. In around 1995, I sold it to a very close friend. He likes guns, but hardly ever shoots the several he owns.

Over the past 11 years we've moved away from on another and back again. We now live with a 40 miles of one another. I had tried to buy the G21 back from my friend a couple of times, but he saw no need to sell it and my attempts were half hearted. Well, this past weekend (actually about a month ago now) the moon and stars were aligned just right (he wanted the money and I had the money) so I got back my G21. It looks like the day I sold it to him 11 years ago. He told me he might have shot it once, he just could not recall. Nonetheless, he kept it cleaned and oiled.

I am very happy to have it home again. I have big fingers and hate the later frames with finger grooves. As a matter of fact, all four of my Glocks are 1st generation frames. Back in 2001 I found a real gem on consignment at one of the local indoor ranges. It was a new unfired 1st generation frame G19 in the box for $425. I jumped on it.

After shooting it, I posted this:

The G21 visited the local indoor range yesterday (actually about three weeks ago now). This was its first trip to the range since it found its way back home after 11 years. It's still as good as I recall it was 11 years ago. Still dead on with 13 rounds cutting a big ragged hole around the X and 10 ring at 35 feet. And, of course, it functioned perfectly...

I'm pretty stoked about this forum. It'll be a one-stop-shop for everything 21. It's the only glock/firearm I own and pretty much all I'm interested in owning.

I haven't owned a firearm of any kind for 26 years because I was raising kids and couldn't afford any. I used to shoot black powder for fun and used various firearms in the Navy and various friends' firearms in the past. When I started looking for a home defense/personal carry handgun, I was immediately drawn to the 21 simply because it was a full size .45 in an affordable and reliable make. So my son gave me his used 21 and it was a perfect fit.

Now I reload and shoot often and my CHL app is being processed. My camera's on the fritz so I'll have to get back with some pictures later. But it's a well used 1997 vintage serial number CV-somthing.

woo hoo "21 club"

Anywho, I have a G21L (thanks for the idea CG), a G30, and plan to get an all stock G21 with Meprolights for winter carry sometime down the road. Then all I would need is a G36 and I would have every possible size .45acp Glock.

I have shot Glocks of other calibers and I keep coming back to my big boys. The .45acp Glocks are the best.

Glad to see there's a Glock 21 area now. I've been considering getting one, loving my 17, but finding the appeal of the .45 and the frame's fit to my hand to be a little nicer than the G17. Definitley looking forward to seeing this area fill up with useful information (both good and bad) about the Glock 21.

I refuse to join the 9 vs 45 debate, so I just want one of each, a 17 (love it!) and a 21. :D

I started another thread to thank GT for starting this 21 Club but got no responses, so I'll restate the point here. Always felt a little gilty talking about the G21 on the G30 forum so this is great.

Back in the mid '90s I was teaching CCW and self-defense classes and had so many students with Glocks I figured I needed to learn about them. Since I had carried one kind of another of 1911 for most of my law enforcement career, I was naturally inclined toward the 45 ACP Glock. Soon after acquiring a G21 I added a BarSto barrel as my reloaded ammo all featured cast lead bullets. I had BarSto fit the barrel to the slide and in the next 4 years I put 20,000 rounds through the gun without a weapon related malfunction. Only other mods were factory 3.5# connector with the NY#1 spring and, about half way through that 20,000 rounds a set of XS 24/7 Big Dot sights.

Just a month or so back I learned of the "+" trigger/bar for the
G21 and got one from Glockmeister. The difference is subtle but I like the feel better. Seems to be more of a surprise break.

Like I said above, glad there is a dedicated G21 club.

I have been a R.N for the last 16 yrs. The Drs and other nurses think that I'm strange because I love guns. I didn't say I like them I said I love them. I own six 1911s and shoot very well with them. I bought my first Glock last month. It was a G-21 second generation and it shoots so good. I plan on buying another one but in green. Im hooked.

Let's face it-- Marines like the .45 ACP!

I have three pistols chambered for the .45 ACP: my Gen 3 Glock 21, to which I have added only Trijicons; a Springfield Armory loaded Champion (4 inch bbl 1911); and a Ruger Blackhawk convertible that has cylinders for both .45 ACP and .45 Colt. Also have a Remmy 870 HD for SHTF scenarios.

I like the 21 for its low recoil and high mag capacity. And like all Glocks, it defines low maintenance.

Shot it in GSSF a few times, and while I didn't win any prizes, I finished ahead of a lot of guys shooting smaller caliber ammo!

9mm is cheaper, no doubt. I'll stick with the .45, thank you.

While i have liked the 1911 since I was old enough to have one, once i got a Glock 21 I do not have room for any other 45ACP pistol. I have two G21's bought at the same time(consecutive numbers) so I would have a spare. Had to rotate the pistols while I was working, just to even out the wear because I never needed a spare pistol.:tongueout: Except for once when the dept held the one I had been carrying. I went t6o my locker and grabbed my spare. Got the other one back in a week after the investigation was over.

After struggling several years trying to like the 40 (22, 27, 24C, 35), a good friend offered a look at a 21. After a 100 rounds all I could say was why the hell didn't I look into this sooner! Sold off all the 40's except the 24C.

The 21 is the gun that gets the most time at the range, followed by the Witness. The gun's been through hell, rail recall and KB'd. After the rebuild, new factory barrel, trigger assembly, and some other parts, the gun now shoots better than the day it was received. At least for me the 21 is one of the most accurate guns I've ever shot out of the box. The ergonomics was a perfect fit for me.

Glad to see there's a forum for this fine gun, congratulations for those who worked getting this forum in place.

I am likewise happy to see the G-21 forum.Have been shooting the 21 since they first came out.

I also reload for both my 21's and my 30's.The 21-C is used to fire 45 super with a 24lb. recoil spring and a shock buffer. This combo is so accurate with a 3.5lb. connector. It always causes a big smile when others fire it for the first time.:)

With many thousands of rounds down range I do love the size and feel of the 21's.

I just ordered a complete inside the pants custom carry package from Eric Larson (H.B.E.Leatherworks)for the stock 3rd gen G-21 with night sights. Eric says probably about four months before it's ready.

If you get a chance check out his website you will see why there is a four month wait. Eric is an artist!

Does anyone have a long shot story to tell about thier G-21,at 75-100 yds?

Drug dealer i had busted was out on bail some one shot him with a .45 Auto phone call tip said it was a cop. Turned out it was one of his customers who wanted to frame a cop. I just happened to be known to carry a 45. And I had busted that particular slime ball at a high school football game selling his product and was rather vocal about him getting out with a low bail. But that was up to the judge. The investigation was more of a formality and I acctually got a weeks vacation out of it with pay.

I believe that what he means by the "+" trigger bar is the Glock factort 8# connector. It has a "+" sign on it.

Arc Angel
12-01-2006, 21:00
:) Yup, that's a possibility - especially if he's, also, using a New York trigger spring. Another good guess would be an actual #4256+1 trigger bar.

My understanding is that the, '+' bar is a (rare) variation of the new #4256-1 trigger bar. (with both a longer cruciform AND a higher cam) As I understand it, this bar carries the, '+' designation because only the safety plunger cam on the front of the bar is marginally higher than the original #4256 bar.

Sometimes Glocks can be soo ... confusing! ;)

Great

I didn't know about the 21 forum until I just did a search.

I am going to trade my Smith 1911 on either a 30 or a 21.

I owned a 21 and sold it. It was one of the best guns I ever owned. The 1911 is pretty, but high maintenance and does not shoot as well as the 21 did, for me.

I own a 17 now. I also owned a 36 and liked it, but it lacked capacity. I am also considering a 30.

Decisions.

I'm a wee bit late with my posting to this thread, but here we go...

I had a Glock 21 3rd gen in early 2007 for a short while before having to sell it to help my father with a relocation after my stepmom passed away; I just picked up a lightly used Glock 21 3rd gen and actually got to fire this one...I didn't realize what I was missing...

I'm not the most accurate shot with it yet, but I feel that 10-15 yards is a good starting point since I haven't fired anything .45 acp in the last 2 years and I have concentrated on double action revolvers and Beretta 92's; I like that recoil absorbing characteristics, ruggedness, and inherent reliability

my range session started with 100 rounds of Aguila 230 gr fmj...yes, crappy Aguila...I was throwing a bone to a shop I haven't visited in a while and that is what he had in stock; reliability was good; accuracy was good; plenty of muzzle flash; a horrible white powder residue on the front of the frame

I picked up 2 boxes of Remington UMC 230 gr jhp value packs from Walmart and fired 150 rounds; reliability was good; accuracy was good; muzzle flash was less; not as dirty on the frame but more powder residue inside the frame;

story on the gun was that it was sold new by the shop; the wife of the guy who bought it got active in shooting and wanted something that she could operate; the gun got traded back for something smaller; a few months later I gave it a great home :dancingbanana:

Glad a 21 club is up and working. I've been a .45 fan since I was a kid and learned to shoot on an old beater GI .45. Loved it but always thought it wasn't the best, but couldn't afford better.

In the 60's I became a firearms instructor and a competitive shooter and an NRA Instructor for personal protection, and other disciplines. In each case a 1911 was really the only choice for a .45, although I have used .45 acp revolvers. For the next twenty years, that is all there was.

In the 1980's, along came the Glocks. I tried one of the early G17's and even though I liked the Glock, the 9mm just wasn't right. By then our military had changed its mind and converted but I wasn't ready to. An LE friend of mine showed up one day with this new .45 called the Glock 21 and my first impression was "big". For my medium sized hands it was not a good fit, but I had to have one and so I bought it. For the next year or so I tried to like the gun but it didn't work out. Sold it. For the next few years I went without until I found the G30. Again, not a good fit and sold it for a G36. I still have the G36 and I like it as a BUG, but it is not my favorite always gun. About 4 months ago I found the G21sf and to my surprise it fits, or at least it is close enough that I love it. It has become my constant companion, my SHTF gun, my everything gun.

So there you have it for what its worth. A 60 year old guy who has a new favorite. You younger guys will never have to struggle with the problem. ;) Who could ask for anything more.

Thanks again for the "21 Club"...

You need to transfer any photo you want to post from your computer to a 3rd party photo host site. I use Photobucket. Once the photo is transferred to the host site, you simply copy the image tag over to your post.

This will establish a, 'link' between your photo and your post. Here, open the quote feature on this post as if you were going to reference something I've said and read the image tag on this picture of one of my G-21's. That should give you the idea.

The first Glock I purchased seven years ago was a G21. Since then, I've added a G23, G19, and a G30. The Glock I carry, most often and on a daily basis, is my G21. This past spring I went to get my CHL renewed and there was a gentleman probably a bit older than myself. He was going to qualify with a 38, but here in Texas, if you qualify with a revolver, that is all you are licenesed to carry. So I promptly let him shoot my G21. He was leary at first, said the .45s he had shot made his hand sore and were uncontrollable. He shot a two inch group with his first twenty rounds, and simply could not believe just how "soft" my G21 shot. Needless to say, he told me he was going to go right out and get one. I sure hope he did.

Take care everyone, and I am so glad that the G21, finally has its own club.
