Anyone heard of any other large outfit having as good or better quality P-5's other than Southern Ohio Gun?
Only just recently found out about P-5 availability at all!
Won't have the disposable cash for a week so might as well ask....
Gotta get one, that's for sure!

I purchased one of the SOG P5's and like it a lot. I think the "excellent" discription is a bit much, I think it's more "very good", but that's just my opinion. My P5 shoots excellently and I'm well pleased with it for the money I paid.
I notice that on gunsamerica, gunbroker, and auctionarms several of the SOG P5's are for sale. It doesn't say SOG guns, but the package and price seems to indicate they probably are.

"I think the "excellent" discription is a bit much,..."
Your thought is apt as they have a rep as over-billing the condition of the handguns they've sold over the years considring what have heard from several other sources.....
Am much more concerned with it's mechanical state and accuracy, can always be reblued.
Most seem quite pleased with the trigger pull, both SA & DA which is another big + to me. Am happy to pay what you did, just concerned if they are reaching the "bottom of the barrels" soon, etc.?
Thanks for you post, J.

I don't know if they are at the bottom of the barrel so to speak with the remaining P5's. I DID pay the extra $15.00 for "handpick", and when I emailed them a picture of the slide wear they were very quick to offer me a different P5..
I told them that since I had paid the extra fee for a handpick I didn't understand how they could have another one in better condition, and if so, why didn't I get it in the first place?
Also I had gone out back and shot the P5 (picture below) @ 7' and I was quite happy with the results. I didn't want to send it back for a "prettier" one that might not be as good internally, so I kept my original.. SOG did refund my $15.00.
I'm NOT upset with SOG.. I think often times classification is a crap shoot anyway. Since SOG offered to replace my P5 with absolutely no questions, and also refunded my handpick fee I felt that was all I could ask of them.
If you order a P5 from them and are unhappy with the condition it arrives in I have no doubt SOG will take it back.. The P5's ARE adverstised as "excellent", so any condition obviously lower than that should get your money back.
As for me, I'm a happy camper with my P5. I think for $429.00 (I think that's what I paid) I got a great pistol for my money.
I did put Hogues on my P5, but honestly I think I'll be switching back to the original plastic grips.. I don't like the Hogues any better.

In the picture the first DA round impacted pretty much center of bullseye, while the remaining eight rounds (single action) grouped pretty nicely a bit lower and slightly to the right. I think with a little more range (backyard) time I can get the sweet P5 putting them all in the center.
The Walther P5 is a keeper. I like it a lot.

The P5 for that price is a good buy.....
I have a Interarms imported P5 and it is one smooth shooter.....
The P5 just as the P7 police trades have seen more holster than daylight and the only thing I would suggest is replacing the 2 recoils springs frequently .......which is dirt cheap IMHO
the felt recoil on the P5 is minmal ...
Also the DA/SA triggerpull on the P5 is great.... one of the best on a service pistol ever
