Being in Lousy-anna you are in Area 4, like me. Check out www.uspsa4.org to find a club in your area. Depending on exactly where in the state you are, you might me able to shoot with my club (lower TX/LA border) or with our affiliates deeper into the state. Some of them are in the Leesville area and around Fort Polk. Getting involved is easy, just take all of the money you budget for the unimportant things (ie rent/mortgage, car payment, gasoline, food) and spend it on ammo, equipment, match fees, travel expenses and guns. That should be a decent start :) . I don't know if you have a spouse or family, but if you do I'm sure they won't mind giving up some luxuries so you can support your habit. Hozer 12-15-2006, 07:51 The Rifles... Always have a back up gun. And when I train at the Olympic Training Center, I take the scope off this and shoot *very* smallbore. With the scope on, I practice Silhouette and Sportsmans Team Challenge (a 3-gun match of sorts...) in my basement. http://coloradoshooting.org/ipw-web/gallery/albums/Hoser/Anschutz_8002.sized.jpg skorpio 12-19-2006, 18:05 Hozer, what division do you shoot in? Curious, 'cause I see an open capacity shotgun (looks like a 10rd. tube) with no optic, limited/tactical (sights, .40S&W) handgun, tactical rifle (one optic) and an open rifle (optic+bipod)... Inquiring minds want to know.... Hozer 12-19-2006, 21:39 Tactical Division. The Benelli is a 9+1+1. For USPSA matches I put a 8 round tube on there, or add a one round plug. It makes life easy for USPSA matches. Top off the tube, rack the bolt and you are done. For SOF/IMG rulebook governed matches like Mystery Mountain you can only start with a max of 9. After that, anything goes. The one AR just has a bi-pod on there cause I had it on there when I took the picture. My T2K (MOR rifle) is open class, as there is only Open or Limited in MOR. rhino465 12-19-2006, 22:15 Here's my trusty Limited/Tactical Division Remington 1100. The tube allows me to load 10+1 (from the good old days when you could load as many as you could!), but now I obviously load only 8+1 to start for USPSA 3-gun and Multi-gun. rhino465 12-19-2006, 22:17 And the other side . . . rhino465 12-19-2006, 22:24 Here is my house gun that I've been using for a while as my 3-gun rifle. It started life as a Bushmaster AK Shorty, but I've added a CAA stock, an EOTech on a Benny Cooley mount, and a 9V Pelican light mounted using a piece of picatinny rail and a Viking Tactics mount. The photos show an additional 6V Pelican light mounted because I was experimenting with a redundant "back-up" light (which was also something I could turn "on" and leave on without holding onto a pressure switch). I've since removed the second light because I had to move the 9V forward to give me enough room to close the dust cover with my support hand easily among other things. rhino465 12-19-2006, 22:29 And the other side ... Oh ... this gun has one of the worst triggers I've ever felt on an AR. I thought it might improve over time, but it hasn't. It's so bad that it amuses me enough to just tolerate it. rhino465 12-19-2006, 22:36 And finally . . . my trusty Springfield Armory 1911A1 9mm Blaster. It started life as a wretched piece of non-functional crap that couldn't keep a magazine full of hits on an IPSC target at 25 yards from a rest. After a tiny bit of work by me (new extractor with help from my buddy BigDave, thin grips, short trigger), and a LOT of tender loving care from Neil Keller . . . it's now a very reliable, adequately accurate blaster that digests cheap 9mm ammo. skorpio 12-24-2006, 18:41 I've got the same 9mm Springfield, Rhino. Mine eats Blazer, but chokes on WWB, which sux 'cuz I have over 5 cases of it. Other than that, great shooter. jobob 12-24-2006, 18:53 So, rhino, you shoot minor with the pistol? rhino465 12-26-2006, 15:17 Originally posted by skorpio I've got the same 9mm Springfield, Rhino. Mine eats Blazer, but chokes on WWB, which sux 'cuz I have over 5 cases of it. Other than that, great shooter. That does suck! Too bad we don't live closer together, or I'd make you a deal on that WWB 9mm. Mine will eat pretty much anything now, including that super accurate Fiocchi 100gr "leadless" SJFP. I've been feeding it Remington/UMC 115gr because it was cheap, but even those prices are on the way up now. Originally posted by jobob So, rhino, you shoot minor with the pistol? Yep! I do it for USPSA pistol matches too, although I shoot my .45 at "big" matches. The 9mm is half (or less) the cost to shoot compared to .45ACP. Plus, it's just really fun to shoot a 9mm 1911. If you haven't tried it, it's almost like shooting a .22. You just have to get all A hits!! It's also a great gun for NRA Action Pistol, steel, IDPA ESP, and doing training/formal classes. The downside is that I don't have a 9mm backup for it. jobob 01-18-2007, 13:51 Just trying to keep this thread alive! If I ever get off my duff I may take a photo of mine to post. Morris 01-18-2007, 14:57 Speaking of which . . . handled an M&P AR, their Performance Center marked model. Price listed was ~1750. Platform looks to be a complete race gun style set up, tubular handguards, no front sight block, ACE fixed stock, crisp trigger. Picked it up and it had a "racer" feel to it. With some sights, it looks promising. Dunno what the barrel twist is. TKOL 01-18-2007, 21:24 Originally posted by Hozer The Rifles... Very nice Tubb. What is it chambered in? This barrel (Schneider poly) is in 6XC for just MOR stuff. The High Power barrel (lilja 3 groove) is in 6CM and the F-Class T/R and palma barrel (again a Lilja 3 groove) is a 308. For F-Class I just add a Nightforce 12-42 and a supressor, the ultimate *and* NRA legal muzzle break. Changing barrels takes maybe 10 minutes and they all use the same Stoner (SR-25) mags. I love this gun. Maybe the best rifle investment I ever made. TKOL 01-19-2007, 00:24 Originally posted by Hozer This barrel (Schneider poly) is in 6XC for just MOR stuff.
