View Full Version : Need a value on AR fullauto lowers?
First let me start by saying I have been out of the gun business for about 2 years, so I have some catching up to do.
I have some stripped full auto lowers (fire/safe/auto) made by Olympic Arms and I need to know the value of them to see if it worth a trade to someone. I also have all the internals to go with the lowers.
What I need is a value for a stripped full auto lower. And a value for the guts of the lower, ie. the full auto internals such as selector and trigger.
I know some people used to hate these kinds of questions (I've been around since 1998 on this forum), but I really need to get a real world value., and having been out of the market for so long has left feeling kind of newbish.

If they are transferrable, I would say somewhere around $8,000-$9,000. If they are somehow presamples who knows???? If they are post samples, they are probably worth $50-$100 tops.
If they are not registered, they are worth $250,000 and 10 years.
This advise is worth what you payed for it....YMMV

Seems one who was in the gun business only 2 years ago, would realize no legalities have chanced. As a resident of MO if you do not have a firearms license, you can not possess these machineguns.
A transferable Oly Arms receiver registered with the ATF would be worth about $9000 a piece.
A post 86 Oly Arms receiver would be worth about $80 on the used market.
Let me restate this.
I have been out of the gun business in the sense of I have not purchased, or really even researched guns for a little over 2 years. That used to be one of my jobs, and has once again become one of my jobs.
These FullAuto lowers are for a Police Dept. with which I work for. We are trading other items we have for the full auto lowers, and need to know an approximate value so that we know if it is a good trade.
I do not know for sure if they are pre or post. I will have to check the serial numbers. If the ban is now over why does that matter, I really am curious?

You really need to read up on the assault weapons ban, what it did and didn't do, and on the FOPA of 1986. There is good information stickied here.
The assault weapons ban had nothing to do with full auto lowers. I assume you did not work with Title 2 before by your responses here.
These receivers should have approved Form 5 or Form 10 for them. If they are Form 10, they ar worthless. If they are form 5, check the serial # with NFA branch to see if they were registered before 1986.
Again, they could be worth $8,000-$9,000 so it would be a good idea to find this stuff out.
you have form 3 papers? or other paper on lowers? if not they are probably illegal even if manufactured before 1986
batfe will not be pleased if there are no papers on the lowers and they have the auto sear hole drilled

This is correct, even if it is a LE agency.
Thanks for info. No I never did Class II stuff, it was work and purchases on sidearms, shotguns and rifles.

You need to call the ATF NFA branch, have ready the name of your department, the manuf. and serial number of your receivers.
Your guns could be transferable legal for civilian ownership value $9-12,000 depending upon brand.
Pre-Samples, guns that went out of country to war, came back in from 1968-1986 value half of the transferable.
Post 86 Sample guns. Purchased by the dept. after 1986. Value $100 for stripped receiver, perhaps upto $800 depending upon configuration if a complete firearm. these guns can goto dept. or LE dealers only
form 10 confiscated guns, worth less cause only other Police departments can get them, can't even goto LE Dealers.
Form 10 govement M16s worth $20 each, U.S. loans these guns to PD. they are U.S. govment property and can not be sold by police dept. government loan.
