View Full Version : different sights on different glock models
I currently have a G23 with trijicon night sights. I am most likely going to buy a G26, and I am considering purchasing Heinie straight eights or XS Big Dots for it. Will having different sight systems screw me up? Should I have the same sights on all my Glocks?
Thanks.
ok, let me rephrase my question:
For owners of multiple glocks--which is just about everyone--do you have the same sights on all of them? If not, how hard is it to adjust, when going from one to another?
Well, from my own experience, you can have multiple sight-types, and shoot them all well enough; but it may take a few rounds to adjust to each gun. You could consider this a problem, or part of the fun! ;)
There was a marked difference going from my Meprolight-equipped G21 to Judy's G19, when it was equipped with XS Big Dots. But I was able to do it, and on a good day, group tightly and even bull's-eye at 30-feet.
The XS' are a specialty sight, designed for fast acquisition in self-defense situations. Within say, 20-feet, you get that Big Dot on the center mass of your attacker (forget the rear sight entirely), and you're going to ruin his day. But we did not find them to be very satisfying "range sights". Conversely, there are those who shoot all around, very well with XS sights.
As a matter of logic, if you propose to level your performance among several gun models, it makes sense to standardize the sight picture among them.
I think very often though, people favor a single gun for carry, and practice most with that rig.
Our Current Glock Line Up:
G21 Factory Meprolights
G19 Trijicon Green Dots
G17 Dawson Precision FO/Adj
New G30/G36 AmeriGlo Yellow/Green Operators or XS Big Dot.
