You cannot purchase parts for them. I had a long conversation with SA the other day about this. They seem kind of anal about this. One other thing that ticks me off about SA is they took a HS2000 stuck their name on it and raised the price $150. I like their 5" .45ACP XD. Don't even get me started about the conversation I had several years ago with one of the SA owners concerning a problem with a 9mm 1911. Stick with your Glocks. Your shooting is improving, be patient. You are just trying to shoot too fast for your current skill level. Mayonaise 11-02-2006, 21:00 I'm with Joe. When the gun was the HS2000 "The Croatian Sensation" they were selling new for $300. One of the worse triggers I've ever felt. When the trigger resets there's additional take up required before the trigger breaks again. Ugh! I too like the ergonomics of their .45. I just hate the triggers on the damn things. The weak leak still appears to be the feed lips on the mags. Doesn't take too many direct hits on the lips dropping them to start creating problems. I say stick with a Glock. If you know what you're doing it only takes a few minutes to make a stock trigger nice and smooth. hankfan79 11-02-2006, 21:57 Thanks for the advice Joe. The only reason I chose the Springfield XD was that for reasons in CDP. I have been bumped to Expert in the last two majors. (SSP and ESP) I was going to go with the XD 5" Tactical model. I thought it would fit better than the G21 would. It is still a toss up though. Three guns I have looked at whas the G21, The 5" XD, and the new Taurus 1911. I still hold a SS rating in CDP. Your saying I should just stick to SSP or ESP? I will admit my skills have improved greatly over the last few months. Where it came from....I couldn't tell you..*laughing* I think the Expert class is where I will most likely "level out". It is amazing what a new set of sights can do. I have reduced my time and points down with the Warren Tactical sights. *name drop* Joe D 11-03-2006, 06:36 I would probably go with the G21 if the grip is not too large for your hands. That way you stick with the same grip angle. A G21 with a grip reduction feels pretty good. The 1911 approach is not the best choice. Different grip angle. I think a properly set up G21 shoots softer than a 1911. Jim Watson 11-03-2006, 07:13 I don't know about the "shoots softer" business, I think all those plastic guns have kind of a mean kick and flip. The Plastic M&P they had for demo at the Nationals was a big disappointment to me. The grip angle part is right. Going from Glock to something with a normal grip angle like a 1911 or XD will take a good deal of transition work. I know people who can shoot one this week and the other next week and do well, but I am not one of them. And I know several people who think they can but whose scores suffer for trying. Smokecloud 11-06-2006, 15:40 there is nothing wrong with the XD's, they are a great bargain. I have not seen any break anything yet. plus the steel mag loading into the plastic frame is silky smooth. I endorse Scott Springers trigger jobs, I have played with them first hand and they are very nice. He has a very large customer list and is forever busy doing up to about 20 guns a week. Scott is a very competitive shooter at his local club, so he knows what works. springerprecision.com shootingbuff 11-11-2006, 14:57 Originally posted by Bones3 Heard good thing about these folks. http://www.canyoncreekcustom.com /   hankfan79 11-12-2006, 06:47 I was referring to a "Drop In" part or something that I can do myself. I am not interested in sending the pistol off to a gunsmith. Joe D 11-12-2006, 06:48 The more of us that call SA and complain the more likely they will change their policy. If you don't call nothing will happen. Suburban 11-19-2006, 00:13 Originally posted by Smokecloud there is nothing wrong with the XD's, they are a great bargain. There's no bargain around here. The XDs are $510, while the Glocks are $500. ryucasta 11-19-2006, 11:59 Give Tom a call he is a straight shooter (No BS) and he will thake the time to explain to you the various options that are available for the XD. http://www.novakshandgunneroutlet.com/xd/XDSERVICES.html GRR 11-21-2006, 21:13 Originally posted by ryucasta Give Tom a call he is a straight shooter (No BS) and he will thake the time to explain to you the various options that are available for the XD. http://www.novakshandgunneroutlet.com/xd/XDSERVICES.html Looked at his site. The guy is a gunsmith. Why would Hankfan want to call him? Didn't see where he had any parts for sale. Oh, that's right! You can't buy parts for the XD. ryucasta 11-22-2006, 13:15 GRR, I was suggesting he contact Tom Novak for ADVICE at no time did I state that Tom sold parts for an XD. On a side note I remember when Glock wouldn’t sell 3.5 pound connectors to the public as a separate item but due to continued customer demand and after market parts manufacturers like Scherer and Lightning Strike they finally did. IMHO that Springfield in time will acquiesce to public demand for spare parts (Puchased from Retailers like LoneWolf intead of a certified XD armourer) if they didn’t it would be bad PR for them in the long run with a possible impact on future sales. BTW, I currently do not own an XD (Considering one though due to exceptions in current state laws) so I really have no skin in the game in this post. vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
