I am looking to buy a Tactical light (no laser) for my G19. I have a 3rd gen so I have a light rail. Can anyone recommend a good one? I have done a little bit of searching, so far the Streamlight TLR-1 has caught my eye. I'm mostly looking for a rugged and lightweight light. I also don't want the thing to be too bulky. Extreme brightness is not necessary.
If you have pics of the TLR-1 (or any other tac light) installed on a G19 that would be very helpful. Thanks.
i am happy with the light glock offers.
Just bought the trl-1, I can say that the glock is toy compared to the trl-1.

You have the Glock light for comparison?
I say for the money you can't go wrong with the Glock light. Simple controls and plenty bright. Pity it's made of that same dang Glock plastic.
The M3X without question
Mine has been 100%. It is a very tuff light! Plus, about the brightest out there. Here is mine below. (sorry no pic on glock)

The Glock light is a bit too bulky for me. I want to maintain the sleek look of the Glock as much as possible while still being fully functional of course.

That is not a quick on, off light is it? I have head that you have to unscrew something then put it on the gun and tighten.

Here's a Glock light photo.
The Surefire X200 without question! The 200 A is a beam and the B is a flood. Tough LED, small light, but bright.
I have no comment on the glock light since I have never gotten my hands on one. But I can tell you my TLR-1 is nothing short of amazing. For its size it is bright as hell, sleek design, priced right, and it is easy on easy off. Yes you have to srew a small screw on the side then it springs on and off. This process is very quick.
This is not my pic but you get the idea.
..If you can accept the hit to your wallet.
The TLR-1 is one heck of a nice light for the money!

I have a X200B on order just for the hell of it but the Glock light on my G35 is great. I don't like the TLR-1 because it isn't easy on/off.

I finally made up my mind. I went with a TLR-1 for my G19. It seems to be the best fit for what I want. I got it at smartgunner.com for $89.10 shipped! Its $99 w/ free shipping and discount code "TALK-OCT" for 10% off! That's a steal!

You will love it. And so will your G-19.

Both the surefire and TLR-1 lights are LED lights, not incandescent bulbs like the glock light. You have a lot less chance of your bulb either burning out or breaking due to firing with an LED light...just a pure matter of physics.
I own both a surefire x200A (on my G17) and a TLR-1 on my G23. Both are well constructed (metal, not plastic). Both use the same amount of batteries and both have similar throws. The surefire is a bit smaller size wise and seems better constructed. However, I actually prefer the TLR-1 switch and the price is just amazing. Both are easy on/off. The surefire simply snaps on the rail. The TLR snaps on then uses a thumbscrew to get it good and tight. I've shot with both and had no problems with either coming loose. Taking either off the gun takes less than 10-20 seconds.
I've never tried the glock lights so I can't offer a comparison other than the bulb isn't an LED bulb.
I'm also looking for a light for my G19, I think I will be going witht the Surefire x200a, although its expensive, it seems well worth the money, you get what you pay for, so why not spend a little extra and get something you know will serve you well and not let you down, hopefully it will be a good choice
We use SureFire X200 A & B interchangeably on our G17, G19 & G21.
The attached pic shows the beam patterns of the A&B models.
The A offers outstanding range with its spot beam, from a lens the size of my thumbnail! If memory serves, this model produces 60 lumens from 3 watts. Avg ret $249.99
The B offers a wide flood of light, again from a lens about the size of my thumbnail. If memory serves, it produces 90 lumens from 5 watts. Avg ret $299.99
I looked again, at a TLR-1 tonight, and it seems to offer a beam pattern, and performance, sort of in the middle of the X200 A & B models. It is a really nice light for the money! Avg ret $129.99
We use X200/LaserMax in the G19 & G21, and the systems have performed great together.
On the next gun--a G30 or Sig P226--I'd like to try a TLR-1 and the new green-beam Uni-Max laser sight.

ray could you post of pic of your two lights with the beams on the wall side by side to show a comparison, itd be greatly appreciated, thanks:thumbsup:
Hey RayB, I noticed in one of your pics that you had the bottom of one of your glocks refinished. Where did you get that done at and how much? I have a 22 in od green, and after about 6 months I do not know how much I like it. Thanks

I'd be happy to do this for you when I break out the camera for my next remodeling project/sale, or for the holidays. Okay?
I'll also have to clear an appropriate wall--Judy decorates lavishly. :)
Maybe I'll have a new G30 to pose too; and I never did get around to shooting pics of my G17, a/k/a Lucy. ;)
Best I can do. :wavey:

Hey!
Believe it or not, that is a standard OD G19 frame.
While I did not reprocess the colors as such, I did use a variety of lights for this (see first post in this thread) shot.
I took this pic last Christmas season, and since this is, after all, Glock Porn, I wanted to give my girls, Zoë & Sweet Pea, a little glamour.
On the G21, you'll note the amber highlight on the SureFire X200A, and the red highlight on the backstrap...
On the G19, you'll note the blue highlight on the X200B, and the amber highlight on the backstrap...
For these shots, I used:
White Light
Red Light
Amber Light
Blue Masking Tape On The Flash
The background is the upper back panel of one of my jackets, a brown, sueded leather car coat. The purple hue is caused by the combination lighting.

2 weeks later....
I went to my local firearms dealer (Turner's Outdoorsman) and while filing out the paperwork to purchase a NIB Seecamp .32, I noticed they had the Streamlight Tac Lights on display. I checked out the TLR-1 and fell in love with it. I knew I had to buy one for my G19. I asked how much they were and they said: $129 + tax
I instead purchased one from smartgunner.co for $99
I can't wait to get it !!!
