View Full Version : Sorry for the stupid questions
Hey everyone! I am still getting the p2000sk, but decided to hold off because I need some questions addressed:
First I apologize, for I am a total newbie at guns in general. I am still trying to understand the concept of SA/DA (I believe it has to do with the hammer),
Here is a list of questions:
1. What is the difference of SA/DA?
2. What does the term "cocked and locked" mean?
3. Can anyone show me/instruct me how to clean a p2000sk?
4. Is it possible to add a threaded barrel to the p2000sk so I can attach a suppressor?
5. What is the different variants mean for the p2000sk (v1 and v2 and v3: what are the differences?)
6. Is there a certain variant I should request for the p2000sk as a newb?
I'm sorry for asking these stupid questions, I feel dumb enough as it is, but I figure we all gotta start somewhere and NONE of my friends own any firearms whatsoever.
Thank you everyone!

If ya don't ask you will never learn!
SA/DA- Single action is when the hammer is back. The only action that takes place is dropping the hammer. Double action is when the hammer is down. When you pull the trigger it has to pull the hammer back then release (thus the double action)
Cock & Lock- is not available on the p2000's because there is no manual safety. C&L is when the hammer is back and the manual safety is on.
Cleaning- I usually wipe down the inside of the gun with a tooth brush and solvent then whipe. Same with outside of bbl. Inside the bbl, dip your boar brush in solvent and run it though a few times. (from back to front. Don't do it from the front because it will not clean it as well.) Then put some patches on the pole and run them through until they come out clean. Only use one patch per run though the bbl. Once everything is clean, put a few dabs of oil on all the parts that have friction.
Threaded bbl- I am not sure if there is one available. If there is, it is probably make my Javis (google it)

If you want to go Cocked & Locked (hammer back SA and thumb safety on) you're going to need to get a HK USP.
You can get a threaded barrel for just about anything as long as some manufacture makes an after market barrel for that given firearm. KKM, Jarvis, Bar-Sto, and EFK Fire Dragon offer extended and threaded barrels to name a few.

Nice, thank you for the input, do you know which one is recommend out of those listed? I just don't want anything that isn't good quality.
Thanks again!

I would say Jarvis is the best for HK handguns. That is what most go with. You should register over at HK pro forum. Those guys are the real guru's!
Gunnuts post is right about everything except the variants. The list that he posted pertains to USP variants. The P2000s have their own.
V1- DAO (LEM)@ 4.5-5#
V2- DAO (LEM)@ 7.5-8.5#
V3- SA/DA

When I get a threaded barrel for my HK USP45f I'll probably go w/ Jarvis, 'cause they're black. Don't wan't to screw up the contrast w/ my newly chromed slide.

 No problem.
The variant thing really confused me when the P2000s came out.
