View Full Version : Has anyone used Ashley Express Big Dot sights in IDPA ?
Just wonderering how this sight would do on the longer shots required in some stages.

I haven't used them personally, but know several folks who have. They struggle with the longer shots.
 I was afraid someone would say that. I'll give those triangle sights another look. Thanks.

Agree with Steve. I have seen them used... but not for long unless they were determined to exercise their defensive weapons. Not on dedicated match guns.
I think I have seen one (1.0) of those triangle gimmick sights one match ever.
Square notch rear and fibre optic front are the current trend.

Used them. Real nice up close, but suck for precision shots.

Great sights for med ranges and do work for extended if you practice. if you are looking past 35 or so yds for normal shots I would use something else. Head shots are no problem at 20 yds and even 25 if I stay in practice.
Most folks give up on them before they learn them. They do have a learning curve.
BTW I use them for IDPA and TSA.

I use them in IDPA (CDP, SSP and ESP) and like them a lot. I have no problems hitting my mark at max IDPA distance (35 yds). I do agree with the comment above however that greater distance does require some practice. These sights aren't for everyone but if you want to learn them, you can get good with them.

I'll be the first to admit these sights are awesome at closer distances for fast shooting and fast sight aquisition.
Also first to admit that in idpa, i have trouble making all of the head shots i need to at distances.
I use them on my g19 for carry
I use a g34 for IDPA with dawson/heinie combo

I agree that the sights have a learning curve...I almost gave up on them a couple of times before seeing some improvement. Yesterday was a clear and beautiful day and the sight looked like a Q beam on the end of my gun. No way to miss looking at it.
IMO there is nothing better for shooting on the move...at least for a fat boy that has to concentrate things like breathing.
I enjoy the product and plan on buying a couple of more sets in the future.
