Well this is my first Walther ever. I'm more of Glock guy (I have ten Glocks:supergrin: ), but I really like the looks of the P99 and the P99c.
I just recently bought a Sig P239 DAK 9mm (cost me a pretty penny:upeyes: ), ordered through a local gun shop, so I wasn't really looking hard at buying a Walther just yet (was looking at maybe sometime in the spring of next year). Anyhow, my plans were to pickup a P99c QA 9mm model (compact model to be an additional carry gun and QA model because I heard that the trigger system is similar to that of Glocks) eventually down the road. I went to a local gun show early Saturday morning looking to just get some ammo and a few odds and ends, when I saw it. I couldn't believe my eyes. The booth had only one P99 (no P99c models at all, matter of a fact, I couldn't find a P99c at the whole show)). It was displayed NIB in its case (P99 AS 9mm (all black, with 2006 "AG" date code). The case had all the NIB goodies, the shell casing envelope, manual, test fire target, extra grips panels, extra front sights, lock, warranty card, etc. Instead of two 15 round mags, it came with three (genuine Walther manufacture) 15 round mags! It even came included with a Fobus paddle holster for it (I'm not too big on Fobus holsters, but free is free). The price had me right then (hold on to your seats). They were selling it all for $410! Of course that was before sales tax, but who cares for that price. I had a few local gun shops quote me around $600 for a NIB P99 or P99c, so this was a sweet deal for me.
I haven't gotten a chance to shoot it at the range yet (hopefully next weekend), but I have a feeling that it well be sweet. I usually don't care for DA/SA pistols, but the trigger feel and reset on the AS model (like many say) is just awesome. The short and quick crisp trigger reset reminds me of that of my Glocks. I still have never tried the trigger on a QA model yet, but the AS model has me sold (I can't imagine how the QA trigger system can compare in greatness to the AS trigger system). The only thing I'm sort of worrying about is how well the P99 will do for conceal carry. It is just a tad bigger than my G19 and G23 (IMHO). I'm planning on buying a Comp-Tac Pro Undercover IWB holster for it. If it doesn't end up concealing well, I might just have to end up buying the P99c AS 9mm, to keep my P99 AS 9mm company, down the road after all.;)
