40Magnum

Fired the first rounds down the tube on my G20L today. It had been sitting static while I received the last parts to outfit it.
Currently, it consists of a 2nd Gen G21 frame with a LWD 3.5 connector installated. Recoil/Guiderod is a Glockmeister Tungsten non-captured with a Wolff 22 pound spring. I have a factory G20/21 assembly but did not test with it as I knew I would be firing factory and handloads during the session and wanted to see if it functioned well with both at 22 lbs.
Total rounds fired (short session) was about 75 rounds. First 15 were Federal 155 hi-shocks from quite a few years back. Sights didnt even need adjusted... it was dead on at 15 yards. Next, I tested a previous favorite handload:
180 Golden Sabres
10.8 800x
Starline brass
CCI 350
No signs of pressure. The chamber on this KKM barrel is pretty tight. Accuracy was good.
There were two failures, both with the handload. One stovepipe, one failure to feed.
As the brass was going straight back (and I mean almost straight back) only four feet or so, I'm wondering if the 22 pound spring is not a little too heavy. I may try a 20 pound to see if the slide is not quite going back all the way. Forgot to wear my hat today with shooting glasses and am now blessed with a wonderful burn mark above the right eye. As I'm a southpaw, brass came straight back, bounced off my right shoulder and then got hung up between my shooting glasses and eyebrow. Mark of honor, I told the wife.
All around, I'm very impressed. This weapon is accurate, recoil is obviously less than other 10mm pistols and looks quite unique at the range. I don't even want to guess what kind of velocity that handload does in this gun. It was a nice load in my previous KKM barreled G20 that was nearly 1.5 inches shorter.
