Whats yalls opinions on the M2 UTL?
Durability?
Reliability?
Brightness?
Are they LED?
How do they stack up against the competion?
Im stuck between getting the M2 or M3x,X200A or TLR1 with a adaptor.
Which route did yall go and why?
I have the USP45f and a USP45f tac.
Thanks

Just ran across this it appears Insight is coming out with a new LED light the SSL-1 it sounds promising at $150.
I have one for my USPc, crowkiller. Its a decent incan light, on par with the M3 as far as the light itself goes.
However... it is somewhat of a PITA to install/remove, due to the "claw" system of mounting. The momentary switch is in a piss-poor location; you activate it with your off-side index finger instead of thumb, and your finger will slip off that switch EVERY TIME you pull the trigger, due to recoil. I do like the separate on-off switch, though.
Bottom line; it has issues, but its the only game in town for a USP unless you use an accessory rail... which pretty much means a custom holster. So, if your USP is your "house gun", then no worries. If you carry it, the UTL is nowhere near as neat and handy as a 1913 railed set-up (Glock/M3/X200, for example).
But it still beats the hell out of a hand-held light when shooting. If you need constant illumination, the switch does have a "steady on" position. Mine stays in the war bag, and is in my pocket when I'm working at night.

Thanks your post was real helpful.
I am thinking about getting the UTL for my USP45f and the adaptor for my USP45f Tactical.
I've had one for as long as I can remember when the USP first came out. I've used it a fair amount and it continues to be reliable, bright, lightweight and easy to use. I think it is just as easy to install on my USP Exp 45 as the MkIII is on my Glocks. Matter of fact I like it better as you can turn it off. I think you can find cheaper lights for your weapon but if you find a used one it should be more affordable. I paid too much for it in '97 but then it was the only show in town for the USP.
