View Full Version : My first IDPA match
I finally did it!!! My first IDPA match. I guess that I did ok. My time for the 90 rounds competion was 205 sec. So I am barely at an IDPA MM (marksman) level. It was such an eye openning experience. I will definitely do it again. For $17, it is the best training money can buy. :)

Congrats! I hate to break it to you though, if you think all that match cost you was $17, you should bookmark this thread and comeback in 6 months. Then you can tell us how much that match REALLY cost you. :animlol:
I look forward to shooting with you at a match in 2007.

I agree $17.00 is a fair price.
IDPA is like a drug dealer...all fun and little cost at first...then it starts with the gleam in your eye that a new belt would be nice...new vest...mag holder.....
Then you realize that once everything is new for your gun..you might be able to do a little bit better with another gun that would require you to buy all of those things again and again and again.
If you are anything like me.....I found that some of my carry methods and holster choices were poor once I was put under some pressure and expected to draw and shoot.
You did do a great job yesterday and I enjoyed being there to watch it happen! I know there will be many more matches.
By the way....how bout the 4th weekend of this month? LOL...we are shooting at PSC in Friendswood. After all....it is a deal..it only costs $15.00 for the training there

It is fun, isn't it?

Thank you for all of the feedback. I am sure that I will be spending a lot more money than just $17 per match soon. I got my comp-tac, but I am already thinking about getting a truglo orange front sight and assort of other gadget. :)

Name a sport that isn't expensive. Fishing? Hunting? Golfing? Stock cars? Motorcycles?

Your first match was the Classifier?
YOu have a whole new world ahead, when you get to a regular match with off-the-wall scenario stages. Gotta think on your feet.
Nope, it wasn't. But my score would have made a MM lvl, if it was a classifier. Right now, I am still an UNC. It is definitely an eye-opener.
congrats on your new found sport. going to the range will never stack up to shooting idpa. i shoot the matches as mini training sessions myself. i'm on my fith match and the money spending has begun...lol
